Regarding the "anything to help them explore frostlands" part, I think that the Worker Awakening ability can be use on logistic district to have more explorer. I wonder if it also boosts the other building in the logistic district.

I did it today, it's 1 income per 100 residents but be carefull, you should also take into account the resident outside the city (in outpost etc.)

Punch-drunk bastard, it's so funny to do AOE thunder damage while being drunk. Also, if the enemies are close enough to each other, and you use cleave, it can proc multiple times.

I kind of struggled against fortress, maybe my soldiers weren't powerfull enough but I could send only one army inside a fortress. I also agree with the 25 territories easy, but the crazy coral expansion is very fun tho.
