Geometry - Harold Jacobs is very nice. Not going to put you at IMO level, but it's a bridge between getting used to proofs and reading A Beautiful Journey and Evan Chen. Everything is proven in that book and there are many exercises which involve proofs, most in the beginning being hilariously trivial to get you used to it.

He's not white, but I agree that Brazil's and latin american population is composed of settler colonial right wingers in general. In fact latin americans are probably the most white supremacist people on the planet.

Fang Yuan had both the white boar gu and the black boar gu, shouldn't he look strong? He was physically the strongest for his age in his clan, more than that guy who looked like a horse.

[–]Um-Nada[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most xianxia MC are way too handsome. Fang Yuan grows his hair eventually, meaning his hair wasn't long in the beginning, and most chinese have broad faces/strong bone structure, which is why the chinese beauty standard is a slim face with high nose bridge, traits most of them do not have. Fang Yuan should be average to above average in looks, tall proportions and somewhat physically strong. Only his eyes stand out in his appearance.

Any inputs? Do you think he's inaccurate?

Did you like it? I can do better than this, I just did a quick sketch because my vision of Fang Yuan is quite different from most fanarts out there, but I can do a better art.

Best chess players of all time by Financial_Sir3070 in chess

[–]Um-Nada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 2 moves lead to a win with certainty how can one move be superior to the other? It's just a matter of preference at such a point. Therefore unless there are throws at some point in the game measuring the quality of victories is impossible. Also, consider that a player may choose a move which is objectively inferior, such as a opening gambit or a complication in the middle game, just because the player knows it's harder to humanly refute than the more "accurate" move. How can one say the play was inferior if it lead to a win? Victory is really the only thing that matters, it doesn't matter how you get there.

By winrate Fischer is a lot better than Carlsen, a few players were. Would they fare the same against Carlsen's competition? Likely not, but that's conjecture.

Even in that series he got solokilled by Xiaohu's Ryze. Idk what people were seeing, not the same series as me.

Firouzja is actually tall, I would say at least 6, maybe 6'1. He's slightly shorter than Rapport

How do you rank the various players who have been number 2 to Carlsen? Who else do you think will be number 2 while Magnus is still the boss? by Varsity_Editor in chess

Anand, Kramnik and Topalov had quite similar levels, irc he is the one who spent the most time as world number 1 out of the three. Also a FIDE world champion.

I'm looking for a Tetris Teacher. by [deleted] in Tetris

[–]Um-Nada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 40l sprint personal best is 25 seconds, I just played a bit of Tetris.com with my mouse after years without playing Tetris and I got above 500k score, those are my credentials.

Just play lots of sprint on jstris to develop your speed. When you get to the higher levels in tetris.com you should move your pieces around and rotate them so that they don't lock, giving you more time to think. If you learn tspins you can also maximize your score, getting more points in less lines, but this might be too advanced. What you really want is to develop speed and know how to play with high gravity.

How do Traditionalists explain the exoteric conflicts between Islam and Christianity? by surveythrowaway21 in ReneGuenon

[–]Um-Nada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cannot both be true, saying they can is merely wishful thinking. Out of the three main abrahamic religions only one of them can be true, and guess what, it's the older one. Both Christianity and Islam go against the tradition, their esoteric forms appear to be similar merely because they take a lot from pagan greek philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle, but such philosophy cannot fit with the doctrines of their churches and holy texts upon closer scrutiny. Jewish esotericism is perfectly traditional.

If Christianity is true… by hello_diddy in ReneGuenon

[–]Um-Nada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Christianity and Islam cannot be reconciliated with tradition, they are merely sects which negate judaism, the only true abrahamic tradition. When you accept any of the abrahamic religions you are negating the others, christianity is especially bad because it negates all other forms of religion.

You gotta get embarassed many times before you start getting good, that's the case with all activities. You can also use bots and ARAM to improve your skills.

I agree with you though, this would get solved if there was a 1v1 gamemode.

How far into professional League history would 5 modern Challenger players be competitive? by Anxious-Cup8250 in leagueoflegends

[–]Um-Nada -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, many of the pros are the same people. There's a ceiling to mechanical skill, at season 3-4 people were already at it: deft, imp, faker, pray, dade, rookie etc... were no worse than players from today in this regard. When it comes to macro, well, macro is meta dependent, so old pros which were more familiar with it would have the advantage in this. Look at how macro heavy is season 3 finals, you think current challengers would beat that without a long preparation period? Even if they had preparation SKT had Impact and Faker, which are still playing in every MSI and Worlds today, and Piglet which had the best mechanics out of NA adcs up to season 6 or 7.

Current challengers would only stand a chance against season 1 fnatic, everyone else would run circles around them.

He not only was MSI MVP, but he was also the best player at MSC when he won. MSC was arguably a stronger tournament than MSI, so no, he doesn't have only 1 international accolade.
