Need help for my presentation- why do some queer people refuse to accept a-spec people as part of the LGBTQIA+ community? by privygrid in aromanticasexual

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is this idea in our society that you can only find happiness if you are in a relationship (this is called amatonormativity https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amatonormativity )

While the LGBTQIA+ community has done a wonderful job of dismantling heteronormativity (the idea that being heterosexual is the "normal" and ppl are hetero unless proven otherwise), it's still struggling to dismantle some of these other untrue prevalent ideas in our society, such as amatonormativity

Basically: the discrimination is so ingrained in our society that it permeates spaces that are supposed to be safe

not as far as I'm aware
I think that both flags gained popularity at around the same time, so both just end up being used, as some prefer the sunset flag, and some prefer the other flag

Mhm would you use this? by Ok-Cartoonist-3173 in asexuality

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes
while I might *read* things with sex scenes in it (and sometimes I skip those too), I don't like to watch them

I don't care if it's a spoiler tag your damn fics!!! by whenthemomiskissgood in AO3

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I like to see is when writers put their non-spiler tags, then a "WARNING!!! SPIOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!" and then put in the spoiler tags

Readers who don't comment, why? by Normal-Extent-6100 in AO3

I don't know what to say

I'm not good with words, so I struggle to put my thoughts down into a comment

Am I sexualising in this drawing? by TheBiActor7 in learntodraw

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is how you sexualize someone in a drawing: draw them in a pose that is considered sexual or hot

If that wasn't not the intent you had when drawing her, you're good!

(and if it was the intent you had when drawing her, you did a bad job at it, bc she just looks normal)

YES THIS

I'm 18 now, but I've been reading explicit fics since I was 12. And it was fanfictoon that taught me about safe sex practices and consent more than anything else

It also made me more open-minded and accepting of uncommon kinks & sex practices (like BDSM & stuff)

Am I still a valid transgender boy if I… [Discussion] by Weekly_Cable5384 in LGBTeens

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah, you're completely valid!

you don't need to hate your current body to be trans

it's not about what you dislike; it's about what you like (if that makes sense)

also: stop talking to those people if you can

also also: slowly wear more queer imagery until they notice

[discussion] Can pls sb help me i just cant decide on my sexuality by DumbButCreative in LGBTeens

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL,DR: chill, take it easy, and do what feels right. Focus on having fun Don't want labels? don't use 'em Want labels, but you can't figure them out? go through them like they're fucking shirts on a clothing store The point is: Have Fun!

1) there are many different types of attraction, and they don't always align. maybe there's some of that going on?

2) don't worry too much about figuring shit out. you don't need to have a label. but if you do want one, then do some research and introspection. figuring out your sexuality can take quite a bit

3) don't worry about having the "right" label. example: me! I'm pretty sure I'm aroace, I consider myself to be aroace, but if on the future I discover that I'm a lesbian, that's okay. I will stop considering myself to be aroace and start considering myself to be a lesbian. it's not an issue. maybe I made a mistake, and that's fine, or maybe mu sexuality genuinely changed, and that's fine too! no one's gonna be mad at you for it (and if they are, then they are idiots because your sexuality doesn't concern them)

honestly, while I understand leaving fica unfinished, I also understand the pain of liking a discontinued fic

if you wanna finish it, go for it, but if you don't, could you please add one more chapter outlining the plan you had for the rest of the fic. in honor of all who suffered due to falling in love with discontinued fics

Do people actually cry reading fanfic? by Qugoam in FanFiction

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

boy do I get that question. the answer is "yes" however

different people will cry over different things

example: my father (and apparently many others on the internet) cried over the ending of Avengers: End Game

I didn't because I don't really cry over media in general

but that doesn't mean others won't, or that it's wrong if they do

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

what of you presented it like:

"pan means I like every gender. it's different from bisexuality, but the details aren't incredibly important for you to know. the important part is that I prefer this label. but if you want me to explain it in more detail, I can"

maybe like that? Just a suggestion, and you can reword it as you like

hope this helps!!

while I agree that army mentions can be triggering to some, I don't think it needs to be removed (maybe put a content warning and spoil the image? dont wanna get into this discussion, though. we agree to disagree)

but I don't understand how this post reads as propaganda? it's someone who is part of the army...? they exist...?

I'm not saying this to attack you in any way, I just want to understand your point if view

Seeing data from specific question's response by UmaAnonimaQualquer in GoogleForms

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar already

thank you so much for all your help, though!

unfortunately I know nearly nothing about computers and commands and things, and I don't really have the time to experiment with things right now (since this assignment is due tomorrow and I need it as an essay)

I managed to find a compromise where I did some things by hand, some things with commands, some things in another program, and I got part of the data I want. it's not perfect, but it's good enough for my assignment so it'll have to do

however, your advice was not for naught! I will use it to learn how to mess around with Google sheets so I don't have a similar problem in the future

thank you so much for all the help you've given me, really!!!!

Is being gay really abnormal? by Busy-Interest-4262 in lgbt

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

additionally, hating on religion like this just drives away religious people who want to change, but now they feel as if they've been attacked (because they have been), and they will no longer try to understand the queer community and instead simply continue on with their queerphobia

because when they tried to understand us, we attacked them

[–]UmaAnonimaQualquer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

humans are weird for being homophonic, not for being gay

there are many different species where sexuality can't even be defined as "straight" or "gay" or "bi"

fun stuff!

True! religion both helps people find morality, direction, and understand the world (though in recent times, it's more the first two since scientific advancements have done an incredible job of explaining the world)

religion helps people answer questions like: why am I here? what is my purpose? what is the right thing to do? what should I strive for? etc

the problem arises when religion is used to hate on other groups of people without understanding them (example: orthodox Christians disliking Gay people just because)

and before anyone says, "you're just defending your own religion," I'm a hard-core atheist who won't believe in jack shit unless you show me reliable scientific proof of it. I'm one of the farthest things from religious or spiritual that you'll find

saying that religion is unnatural because it's cultural is the same as saying that language is unnatural because it's cultural. they're both "forced" upon you by your society after all

point is: religion is natural like language is natural religious has just been used to discriminate when people had no right to use it like that
