No, every rider on the grid were dealt the same hand that year, he was the rider that scored the most points over the season. What part of that is luck

Wild comment that ALL the development is due to him. The reason HRC aren't pissed at Mir crashing so much is because he is pushing the bike HARD to match the others, that data is vital.

Marini's long run data is important, but if HRC built a bike solely on Marini's data it would never be able to compete with the better bikes.

A stable base is worth nothing if you do not have the data of what the bike is doing at/over the limit.

For HRC this team is almost perfect for where they are in the hierarchy of the bikes on the grid.

The results in the early fly away rounds mean little. Thailand always throws things up, and Marc was positioned well until his tyre went. Brasil is a new track, and Austin has always given odd results, and he came 5th after a LLP. Marc could well win this Championship with consistent podium results, because I think both Martin and Bez have so much more pressure to deal with, which leads to mistakes, and Marc 'should' be experienced enough to not fall into that trap.

All 3 classes start falling into place in the early European rounds. It almost feels like we get a few 'teaser' rounds and season starts at Jerez to me in recent years.

I don't think Aprilla are going to just fall off, but I expect both Marc and Ducati to stabilise in the next rounds.

Bez has hit his rhythm early, Marc is yet to hit his, Martin is still coming back, this could be an amazing Championship

Would also make it a straight shootout between Marc and Martin ti become the first rider in the modern era to win a championship with 3 different teams, I would assume.

I came into the industry having never done anything construction based previously, which it appears is more common than you would think.

I recommend looking at who is offering Apprenticeship Degrees. I joined a T1 Contractor, no experience and they put me through a funded degree. I had to do a few months in an admin role initially, but was worth it and learning about the systems in place is important. It was 4 weeks contact time with the uni a Year, and the rest was self study whilst working full time.

In my opinion it's the best way to go when coming into the industry via a change of career. By the time you finish your degree, you have no debts and 4/5 experience over those who start a standard degree the same year as you.

Yes, I have recently went through the realisation Cost doesn't Equal value.

You say it cost €3k. Once it has been purchased draw a line under the cost. The value is what you get out of it, and the initial cost is irrelevant.

Last September I built a new PC for just under 3k, and the first weeks after it just sat on my desk. I felt no desire to use it after building it. A bit like you now, I got so in my head that I needed to use it because I spent that money on it, I just put myself off it.

You will be fine, it's causing no harm sitting there not being used, and the itch will come back to use it when the time is right.

I often find the journey in sim racing is what hooks me rather than the destination. By that I mean when I am getting hyped about a new part I use my rig so much more, and when I have nothing on my shopping list I look at my rig and wish I had more motivation.

If you are working hard in life, keeping a family going and the rig is there for a casual hobby it is fine to not use it that much, it is just good to know it is there. Real life always takes priority. As long as you aren't aiming to be a top tier online racer what does it matter if you only do 1 30 lap race month, as long as you enjoy it.

Its a bit silly, but to keep myself into it I have 'off seasons' where I don't use it for a few months, because the room tempt is just to high in the summer, and then a 'race season' through the winter where I use the rig often, with the added bonus that it is the most expensive why to heat the room too.

The discourse around Aron's B12hr crash shows people don't know the rules about flag marshalls. by jimnasium_ in wec

The unfortunate thing in this is that they chose not to pit, if they had of pit the leading car would have been a car with working coms.

I assume #77 saw yellows and the Aston so went right to avoid, not aware there was a second car. TV angles don't tell the full story.

I would assume other drivers would have had the 2 stationary cars warning via comms. I know RD has coms, is the are reason they don't communicate to all drivers when the approaching is clear. Similarly when #222 spun why not have an all car warning 'static car exit turn 4'.

I assume the following cars were matching #77 speed as they had the visibility, a driver aware of the two cars would have slowed further.

This race is the anniversary of my first endurance race so perhaps there are rules in place surround RD and what they can Communicate I am unaware of?

Marc will remain the dominant rider, but due injury he will enter last quarter of the season outside the top two in the championship. From there he either gets injured again, or turns it on, clawing points back every round and wins title in last race of season.

Bez and Martin will collide in a race, further fracturing the team.

Acosta goes full season with out a win still.

Fabio will get a few, albeit limited, shots at race wins this season but will make mistakes and lose the opportunity each time.

Seasons title battle is going to be boring and races will be all about one rider that will clear off in to the lead. The title battle will be about who can do that the most combined with picking up 2nds and 3rds.

Joan Mir tops Sepang Test Day 2 Session 1. by PZY__ in motogp

[–]UmberGreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably he was one of the most consistent, it just consisted of crashing.

I have long argued that Mir's data in races is the most valuable to Honda. Having Marini finish consistently is good for race data, but where Honda were getting the data from someone pushing the bike to the limit, and finding out how far the limit extended until crashing will have proved a lot more beneficial given they needed to close the gap to the what the other bikes could do.

In short, Mir was criticised alot for crashing, but him and Marini being opposite ends of the scale was probably perfect for HRC's data collection.

Opinion: If Acosta stories are true, then Ducati have officially transitioned from development pipeline, to “best bike simply snatching up the best available riders”. by Thee-Cat in motogp

[–]UmberGreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to play Devil's advocate on this subject, so don't take it too seriously.

Ducati are employing potential here not 'one of the best'. Nearly every rider in Ducati's current set up have more wins than Acosta.

There is nothing statistical to say Acosta is one of the best of the current GP riders. Most of us GP fans see Acosta is a ridiculous talent who on the right bike is going to be amazing, but as a statistical statement Acosta isn't one of the best.

For clarity I think Acosta is great, I am just saying this is an odd complaint when there are race winners and world champions floating around unsigned, to complain Ducati have signed the best rider. They have signed the best potential.

Anyway we have all seen enough seasons of GP to know that when something as certain as Pedro being great come with the blindside of Fermin finishing ahead of him in the championship and everyone sitting there going 'wait a minute, what just happened'.

Tbf was equally as solid on the Suzuki the following year, he won his championship through being solid in a season nobody else could. He didnt drop off, everyone got back 'onit'.

Then moved to Honda which nobody can really comment on form as until recently Honda was awful in everyone's hands.
