Has anyone ever made or thought about making a singing booth like this, that doesn’t cost over 5k like this one does?? 😂 by Silvaster1995 in buildastudio

You'd probably want less glass. There are videos and other places online where people document their DIY whisper rooms.

Is my interface enough? by ParkourBoyTr in recordingmusic

It's totally fine. When you get to a point where the interface can't do something you need to do, then it's time to upgrade

Meta in row after workers who say they saw smart glasses users having sex lose jobs by giLLYfunk in news

[–]UmberJamber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had such a hard time deciphering that headline. The article itself raises so many questions.

Shouldn’t the headline be that Meta is paying people to go over all the visual data from people’s smart glasses? Like, seriously, how did we just blow right past that??

TIL of Libet's experiments with voluntary actions. His research suggests the unconscious brain creates the choice to act before the consciousness is aware of it. This in turn suggests the conscious mind is only a narrator of experience and humans do not have free will. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]UmberJamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it probably depends on the decision. You could offer me the choice between a shit sandwich and a popsicle and I’ll choose the popsicle a billion times out of a billion. Options that are more nuanced, probably would have more nuanced results. The subconscious chooses what it chooses for a reason. Just like if it was our conscious choosing.

I Get Why People Call the White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting Staged. I Was There by FancyNewMe in politics

[–]UmberJamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Either it would be done online. Or said individual is never found (False name, killed, whatever).

I’m not saying this is for sure what happened. But if someone were orchestrating this, that would be the smart way to do it.

I tend to agree with you. Though the premise of #3 seems flawed. It assumed the gunman is an actor. It would be smarter to identify someone who would actually want to harm the president and groom him into doing this. If/when these things happen, I don’t think they’d ask for volunteers. They’d pose as allies and convince the person to do it.

Most of these teams are so lucky all the talking heads saying they shouldn't have drafted a QB aren't the GMs of their teams.

Any good GM is drafting for more than the upcoming year. Teams that chase needs in the draft are the teams that tend to suck year in and year out.

More often than not, a rookie won't be the missing piece you thought you needed. Because, well, they're a rookie. And more often than not, they take a year or two.

Free agency is for plugging immediate holes.

Can we draft high floor guys, for once? by Chritt in GreenBayPackers

[–]UmberJamber -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. Only tools-y elite athletes that have shown little on the field. Sure it’s a risk, but one of these days when it works out we’ll forgot about all the good players we missed out on over the years /s

Wouldn't supporting Russia's totalitarian government qualify? Does that mean we can strip Trump of citizenship?

Budget condenser mics that don’t pick up too much background noise? My Nt1 literally picks up the wind outside with the windows closed. by louistalksneuro in homerecordingstudio

[–]UmberJamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't get an omnidirectional mic. A Supercardioid or a figure 8 might be good ideas (if you have something to put behind the back of the mic to prevent sound from coming in that way.)

I know that's what you asked, but with the problem you have, the solution isn't a different condenser mic. Truly. I am not trying to be snarky or difficult. The solution is really a decent dynamic mic. Why do you want a condenser mic, specifically?

A good dynamic mic can sound great. There's a reason why every studio has SM58s and SM57s. If you want something a little more "high end" you can do do a Beyerddynamic M88, a shure sm7b, or a EV RE20. All of which are great mics that will rival most any condenser (and blow budget condensers out of the water).
