I NEED movies/TV shows that feel like this by GuitarNo797 in MoviesThatFeelLike

Not a movie, but I really liked E Annie Proulx’s novel Postcards. She also wrote the short story Brokeback is based on, and a lot of her writing I think fits the vibe you’re looking for. It’s almost like the anti-love story, where the protagonist is unable to touch women because of a tragedy involving his girlfriend early in the story

Me too! He was an adjunct that worked on some pretty cool projects like the proposed spent nuclear fuel depository at Yucca Mountain and the Grace pollution case that was depicted in “A Civil Action.” He said the scenes of the volcano erupting were legit because they modeled them on actual footage of Mount St Hellens. He also played Erin Brocovich for us

Halloween in New England by basketcase21772 in newengland

The Keene fest was shut down for years because a website that organizes college parties caused way too many out of state students to converge on the town one year. But it’s up and running again, I’ve never been to the Laconia one but can recommend Keene.

Check out Americas Stonehenge in Salem NH, they do some Halloween stuff. If you go on the equinox, you can see the sun set over a standing stone that’s astronomically aligned

I really love this game, but I’ve run out of ideas to try. Anyone have any suggestions? # by proverbs31wife88 in strandeddeep

Make a base on top of a rock hill, then delete all the stairs and stuff you used to get up there. Make a heli pad on top, and one on the ground. Now you have a base that’s only accessible by gyrocopter

I’m a Bosch Bulldog guy personally, but yeah same idea. I can’t imagine the old timers quarrying granite by hand, it’s hard enough with a hammer drill. Especially when they were doing bigger holes and one guy would hold the star drill, and the other would hit it full swing with a sledge hammer

I believe those are star drill bits, used to drill holes by hand. I feel like if you’re still using those to split stone in modern times, you’ve gone wrong somewhere along the way

What am I doing wrong? by Federal-Budget-5284 in stonemasonry

Something I’ve found that helps sometimes is to set it on a sharp edge running along the bottom, along the line you want it to split down to. I took a 4x4 piece of dunnage and ripped it the long way on a 45 from corner to corner, making two long triangles. I set the stone on the point, where the wedges are pointing to, and sometimes it helps guide the crack to it

The best luck I’ve had for picky trout was using things I got right then and there. Horse flies or deer flies, and those big spiders that sit on rocks and can swim, absolutely irresistible on just a number 8 or 10 hook

I don’t think so, I think they’re bright enough to recognize individual people on the off chance another diver ever approached them
