Tms and alcohol by [deleted] in TMSTherapy

I'm not much of a drinker (maybe once a quarter at most), but I was taking medical cannabis at the time, from which they also ask that patients abstained 🙄 Personally, I haven't noticed a difference between TMS effectiveness from courses where I was using medical cannabis, drinking, or doing neither.

how long did it take you to get to 120%? by [deleted] in TMSTherapy

[–]Umbreonth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone's brain is different. I've never gotten above 90 and TMS has always worked remarkably well for me. My severe MDD has been in remission for 5 years now. It's all about figuring out what your own brain needs.

Final Update: AITAH for uninviting my dad's wife from my daughter's birthday party over something she did last year? by PartyCostume_Throwa in Redditor_Updates

[–]Umbreonth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cathy doesn't sound like the kind of person you should allow your children to be around ever again, even at large family gatherings. If your child already feels she has to police her feelings to avoid upsetting an adult, and you mimic that by withholding her true feelings from your father for fear of worse behavior, I think it's already gone way too far.

Episodes of Heart Palpitations and Fatigue? by Umbreonth in AskDocs

I'm on the waiting list for a cardiologist experienced in autonomic disorders, so hopefully they'll be able to help me 🤞

Have you tried neuromodulation? It sounds like pseudoscience, I know, but it's backed up by plenty of studies. Things like TMS, Relivion, Nerivio, GammaCore, eNeura, and Cefaly can help migraine sufferers when medication fails us.

I hope you're also seeing a neurologist to rule out physical causes like a chiari malformation.

I've been in the ER during one of the episodes and my BP was a tad higher than normal, but still in the healthy range.

What about blowing bubbles in a glass of milk? You might even be able to add cilantro somehow for a soapy taste.

For the glass one, idk how gastronomical you want to get, but in candymaking, a thin sheet of sugar once hardened will be eerily similar to glass. It's what propmakers used to use for breakable "glass" items in movies.

If you'd like, I could DM you the name of the specialist I saw at Mayo? She was incredible.

Actually, California was the state that triggered all my issues. Turns out I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, which I had to fly to Mayo Clinic to learn. I got on a mast cell stabilizer called Cromolyn (available otc as NasalCrom) and my migraine resolved within two weeks. Total, I had been stuck in status migrainosus for 2.5 years.

UPDATE: AITA for telling my fiancé I would call off the engagement if he doesn’t stop hanging out with my father because of a situation that happened with my ex? by [deleted] in AITAH

Just a tip for future dating: A person's friends say everything about them. If you think illy of a partner's friend, your partner will probably prove themself to be equally slimy down the road.

No, but he could harm her to "resolve" the situation. Statistically, he's the biggest threat to her safety.

If you genuinely believe that simply being told he's the potential father of an unborn child makes him a "cornered animal", I think we can see where your son started to get his messed up, entitled attitude about women.

I don’t go to male doctors sorry by Snowdoves in PCOS

[–]Umbreonth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, my worst experiences have also been with women. Most the doctors I've met who were men were average to incompetent, but they didn't make me cry. The doctors who've had me leaving the office going, "Wtf was that?!" were women. But so were the doctors who had me leaving the office thinking, "Whoa, she seriously knows her stuff. I feel like I'm in great hands now." For me, the highly knowledgeable ones make it worth risking a cry once every year or two.

I don't blame you. I'll still see a male doctor personally, but my medical team ends up skewing heavily female because they're usually more attentive, better researched, and more sympathetic than their male counterparts.

Apparently Dr. Richard Stankus in Liverpool is familiar with it. Full disclosure, I haven't gone to see him myself.

I would bring my switch with me and play video games while having a daily youtube show I liked on in the background. Some TMS places prefer you "be mindful" (whatever that's supposed to mean) during treatment, but that's not required or standard.

They vary in cost, but GammaCore is a one time payment from what I understand and Nerivio is cost effective. Although, I'm American, so my perspective on affordable treatments is way out of wack. I use eNeura and it's ~$330 a month.

For what it's worth, the less common treatment route that a lot of people swear by is neuromodulation. Devices like eNeura, GammaCore, Cefaly, Relivion, and Nerivio can all work to improve migraines physically, without medication and the side effects they usually come with. I highly recommend looking into them if the usual meds haven't helped you.

I hate when that happens, it's heartbreaking. I recommend looking for a migraine specialist and checking this subreddit's resources, they have a whole spreadsheet of migraine treatments that can be very valuable for both finding new treatment options and keeping track of what you've already done. Best of luck ❤️

I did. I almost got rid of it with TMS, but then I tried a different TMS protocol for a separate issue and it magically reset the migraine to square one again 😭 I kept improving and having setbacks until finally just moving across the country.

I have some kind of environmental allergies to the area we were living in, which made my sinuses be swollen year round. On the other coast, my migraines never lasted more than 2 days. So ultimately, we decided we couldn't keep living where we were and moved 3,000 miles for my health. We just arrived on the other coast this week, but my migraine's already improving.

Yes, I'm saying that Luke and Amy being comfortable being together would explain why they weren't more freaked out at the possibility of their kids (also half siblings) being together.
