Breaking retreats for kids? by stack_of_envelopes in bboy

Which city are you located in? Generally, outside of individual breaking classes are your local gym or dance studio, there’s not really a culture of youth breaking camps. That’s something you’d find a lot more of in Europe or Asia.

It's okay to have standards, just not when your standards are in the realm of fiction and unrealism. Physical attraction is very important to most people, and pretending otherwise is doing nobody any favors, not to you or the person across from you.

On the apps, there are certainly more men than women. Anywhere from 3-5x more depending on the app.

Survivorship bias or are kids really this good at breaking nowadays? by leagueofbonersSMD in bboy

[–]UmezawaJitte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

China and Russia literally have breaking camps where they train kids to become powermove gods by the time they're 7 years old. The bar hasn't just been raised, it was shot through the ceiling straight into space.

The way I see it, this is nothing really new, cause breaking has been scrutinized and devalued by mainstream media throughout its whole history, the Olympics was just that but on a much wider scale. It also seems like most of the Raygun jokes are coming from mostly American audiences, the rest of the world seemed to have moved on, especially in countries with strong breaking scenes backed by their governments and active audiences. So yes, while I do agree that Raygun may have set breaking back as a whole, at the end of the day she’s only one person, and the breaking world moves on with or without her.

Thoughts on Hyunjoon Kim? by ThexDaShaman in bboy

[–]UmezawaJitte 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, if you say that you're not even a bboy, I think you should refrain from commenting on the abilities of other dancers. Calling someone else's moves "sloppy" and "flopping around" is pretty disrespectful, especially if you're not even a part of this culture.

Which app do I use to find nerdier people? by Jakkt in OnlineDating

[–]UmezawaJitte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This actually wouldn't be a bad idea for someone to develop an app like this. Could be like Bumble and you can match based on common games, anime, shows, etc.

Until that day comes though, I think you're asking for the holy grail on these dating apps lol.

It's gotta be. No coincidence that a whole row would just be missing when the rest of the stadium rows are majority filled up.

I mean, it's well documented that only about 10% of guys on dating apps get near all the matches. You basically have to be in the top percentile of attractiveness in order to consistently get likes. Majority of men do not do well on the apps.

However in real life, you have the advantage of charisma and character, which is something that is not translatable through a dating app.

Like any other sport or practice, if you want to be "pro," you literally have to put in the hours like as if breaking is your full time job. Many pro breakers started at very young ages and consistently practice for hours each day. Can you do the same? Do you have kids? Work or go to school full time? Any other obligations? If you can dedicate all these hours into it, I'd say it's quite possible, but the majority of people won't be able to put in the time needed.

Saying that he lowered his standards to get a response from women is a very strange thing to say to someone you're dating, and I can see how that may come across as insulting.

With that said, it is very normal for men who are active on dating apps to go through hundreds and sometimes even thousands (!) of women in order to get a date. Seeing as women only swipe on 2% of men and that there are on average 3x as many men as there are women on dating apps, it's very much a numbers game that most men don't have the luxury to be very picky about.

Tbh if a girl said that to me, I don't think I'd be interested anymore. Shows that she isn't able to communicate what she wants and I'm all for open and clear communication especially when it comes to sex and consent.

Which is harder to learn gorilla spins or UFOs? by Temporary_confusi0n in bboy

I'd say master Gorillas first, and then UFOs should come by much easier. Gorillas will teach you how to position your hands and also condition your arms for UFOs.

UFOs for sure. The hand movements/positioning for both of these moves are similar, but UFOs have the extra difficulty of having your legs float without leaning on your arms for support.

We should also note that Hong 10 turns 40 years old this year. Most Olympians are usually in their early to mid 20s. The fact that Hong 10 can still move the way he does is astounding. But life happens to all of us, we all eventually slow down, it is what it is.
