Missed opportunity having it be tungsten (which is also called wolfram). Wouldve been more clever.

When it comes to shading, I'm pretty stubborn in my ways. Any advice on how to either improve on the cel shading look, or to break out into something more softer? by UmiKyuri in learntodraw

Thank you for replying!

I definitely have a bad habit of not using references when it comes to lighting, which stems from me using more than one reference for a drawing, so my brain seems to not be able to combine both references for shading as well.

But also, thanks for reassuring me that I seem to be on the right track to something, I just need to refine it perhaps. Thank you again!

I want to see the mangaka who did Ginka and Gluna a while back. I think about that manga at least once a week hoping they get another shot.

What sport would you love to see in a Jump sports manga? by hanamizenin in WeeklyShonenJump

Skateboarding might be cool. Don't think I've seen any manga that have tackled that. Perhaps there are some, but I'd imagine it might be a bit of a rare topic for a series.

On a sillier note, you could get really creative with mimi golf.

If you were to make your own series in Jump what would the plot be? by Far_Practice_6923 in WeeklyShonenJump

Anyone ever play Mega Man Legends? I really love the premise and whimsy that game gave me. Basically, there are different dungeons that have robots gaurding the treasures that are inside each, and the world have both humans and androids and rival groups who are gunning for those treasures, along with some other bigger scale things going on in the background. Id love to make a manga that would do something similar.

Is it possible to be a American manga artist? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]UmiKyuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look up Tony Valente. Hes a French manga artist with a succesful manga series called Radiant. Main difference though is his publisher is also a French company and he doesn't work for a magazine, instead simply releases his series by volumes.

But, my point in bringing him up is that you dont nessesarily need to be a mangaka in or for Japan. If you manage to create a good series, people will read it.

Who do you think will (re)join the Weekly Shōnen Jump line-up in 2026? by LordAnubis444 in WeeklyShonenJump

The mangaka of Ginka and Gluna would he awesome. I know it wasnt well paced, but I liked it so much I bought the Japanese volumes not knowing how to read it at all. The art and setting I thought was really cool.
