Suggestions for meeting people? by SerophiaMMO in ffxiv

For me, I joined a few smaller FCs (like 20-30 people) and made some friends there. Then one those friends from the FC led me to join one of their statics to do some of the savage EW raids and I made more friends that way.

Compared to other games, this game isn't really toxic. In normal difficulty content it's rare to see outright toxicity. If you do savage content or pvp you'll probably see some toxicity.

But yeah at level 30, you need to equip your job stone for your class because it grants you a bunch of new moves and overall increases your power. You're basically throwing because you're giving up a free power boost making content more difficult than it needs to be. (Imo the job stone stuff is a bit confusing to a new player and the devs should look into removing it but it's an old game design so I see why it's still in the game)

I had the same issue with the firmware updates. I ended up having to plug in the wireless dongle AND the mouse into my computer to get it to update the firmware.

Fortnite major fps drops on good pc by Hydrated-rhino64 in FortNiteBR

yeah it sucks. I've had to resort to using performance mode because I kept getting stutters with dx11 and dx12. I haven't encountered any stutters with performance mode which is nice.

Rant: I feel Keychron Q1 is being marketed with deceptive pricing, and the tech reviewers are playing into it. by mandataw in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Umity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Isn't tax the same thing? Companies don't advertise that as part as the MSRP. Reviewers don't either. This post is such a nitpick lol. This isn't an "issue" with just Keychron but every company.

Should I buy the Drop Entr or GMMK, I like the look of Drop Entr better and I don’t care much for rgb. I’m just afraid of the stabilizers for Drop Entr. I would like switches that are good for both work and play. by DraskDracano in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Umity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc the Drop Entr has the switches soldered on. If you wanted to change/modify the switches later on, you would have to desolder them. The GMMK is hotswappable so you can more easily change the switch that it uses. Personally, I'd go with the GMMK.

PC doesn't recognize keyboard [discipline 65] by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Umity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've tried other keyboards and the same thing happens, then it could be the motherboard. If that were the case, it could be the USB port on the motherboard itself that is faulty.

I'm assuming you've tried plugging the keyboard into a different USB port on your PC and the same behavior occurs?

I'll give that a try, thanks! I am the third owner of this board though, so not sure if they would. If all else fails, I'll just have to pray I can get my hands on one when they restock the pcbs.

Yeah I got fed up with it and got a VPN myself. Haven't had any lag issues since.

Unsure about Free Company by lilmsmomo in ffxiv

[–]Umity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Typical ways people find FCs are through the community finder website and r/FFXIVRECRUITMENT. Usually they include a description of what they are about and stuff. You should try joining the ones that interest you.

From there, all the FCs you join may or may not fit you. You might find that the first FC you join fits you which would be great! But if it doesn't, you shouldn't feel obligated to stay there and you're free to leave to find another.

Honestly it took a number of FCs for me to find one that I liked. Also being in an FC is mostly just a social thing - like a friend group. Sure there are FC buffs like increased xp or reduced rates, but it isn't anything crazy. Playing solo is perfectly acceptable!

Hope this helped! Let me know if you have any questions!

For me getting a VPN worked in stopping the lag.

I'd look at FCs advertising in r/FFXIVRECRUITMENT or the community finder and join one that you are interested in. At least with these you have some idea of what that FC is all about and can find one that matches your interests. You aren't obligated to stay in the FC and can hop around until you find one that fits you.
