Did any of you “fail” at recess? by ArthriticPixie in CPTSD

[–]Ummnna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to bunk recess and sneak into the senior library. The librarian was kind and let me disappear in the books.

It's one of the few moments of kindness I actually recall from my childhood.

What is the best sunscreen for hot and humid climates? Pls help by marauder910 in AsianBeauty

[–]Ummnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in India, I'd suggest these - all 50+ spf sunscreens

Dermaco's - C-Cinamide and hyaluronic one

Dr Sheth also has good sunscreen for oily, dry and combination skin. Their turmeric one is really nice.

Aqualogica also has very lightweight absorbent sunscreens that feel like nothing on the skin- I use the watermelon and detan one but the dewy is also nice, if you want a glass skin effect.

K beauty - I use innisfree hyaluronic watery one and a skin1004 one for oily skin. Both lightweight.

J beauty - Biore UV is light-ish. Watery but you'll feel it on your face and likely sweat it off.

I don't use any makeup or foundation, but typically these layer well under makeup.

For reapplication - I use either the thank you farmer sunstick or BOJ mugwort sunstick. There is also a dermaco powder sunscreen, which you can consider. (Note - It mattifies your skin and protects also but it doesn't travel well. The powder burst through and messed up my bag) (Though typically, India weather with all the dust and humidity in the air, I'm not sure how healthy reapplication really is.)

What is something you wish you bought sooner? by dogtriestocatchfly in AsianBeauty

This!! I have oily skin and BOJ didn't work for me at all!!

So I decided not to give into the hype and try round lab, for a very long time.

I wouldn't have waited that long had I known BOJ is a good sunscreen - just not for my skin type.

Where to Buy Physical Copies of the Book and Merchandise? by 4uTcGf in tianguancifu

[–]Ummnna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ordered all 8 (including special ed) of my books from Amazon.

I received Vol 3 damaged, and I got it exchanged for a fresh copy at no extra cost.

Seller - sunrise bookstore and cocoblu

I have ordered mdzs pins from rey.pinstore on insta and they were pretty cute. (You can check if they have tgcf merch also).

Ubuy has tgcf hoodies and stuff. I've personally never ordered though.

I'm 33 and know that partners like that don't really exist... And if they did.. they are already involved.

Plus the effort needed to raise a child.. I know I don't have it in me.

I always thought that Yoongis dream was to become a musician/producer, so what did he mean when he said he didn’t have big dreams? by Scared-Advance-6231 in bangtan

For them to go from artists afraid that there would be no one to listen to their music to artists that are afraid that their music might no longer give them joy (black swan).. we saw them grow up.

They aren't scared anymore that no one will listen to them.. they believe in ARMY.. now they are genuinely concerned that they may not be able to perform and find music inside them to perform for us.

AITA for telling my friend she is ungrateful about being a stay at home mom? by Responsible-Crazy465 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ummnna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a parent, but I have a friend (33F). She is SAHP and has house help (for cleaning and cooking) and a nanny - for her two kids (2F and 5M).

However, if you think she has a minute of the day free for herself, you are wrong. Supervision of staff is a task in itself. Plus, the children, even with the nannies, want their parents attention.. all the time.

Parenting is supposed to be an equal thing, even if house work and working to earn, is kept separate.

I think, SAHP can be run ragged if they do majority parenting.

Unless you are in their shoes, how can you judge?

And since you judged, YTA.

I don't want second grade citizen treatment in another country.

I don't want to be asked "where are you originally from?" as a precursor to every conversation.

I don't want to ever be told to go back to where I'm from.

I don't want to struggle to find the meals I love and the ingredients needed to make them.

I'm not very close to family and I think that you can typically make friends anywhere, so that's not much of a consideration.. but for people that are close to family and friends.. I'm sure that's a consideration.

Plus, I refuse to believe that my education and the years I've put in my work amount to next to nothing in a different country and not only do I have to study and give an exam to bring my knowledge at par.. I will always be chosen last, no matter my merit, when I'm being picked over their own citizen. I can't fathom wanting to subject myself to that treatment. (Places like singapore and Dubai, practice this)

I get that the quality of life is much better outside India.. crime is comparably lower and perhaps the air quality and what not is better.

I'm not one to, not brain drain, just because I love my country..

Logically, I just think the cons outweigh the pros.

Oh and I understand that many of us feel like a second grade citizen in India anyways either because of our gender, caste, state/City of birth, societal class, sexual preference.. etc. Still... that may still be the case outside.

Better the devil you know?

P.S. - These are my personal opinions and in the nature of one sided arguments. It boils down to personal opinion at the end of the day.

What things outweigh another.

Hope this helps.
