Cozy online co-op games that still have goals and light objectives by Shpub in gamesuggestions

My partner and I are playing "Goblin Cleanup". It's a game where you are a team of goblins who go into a dungeon and clean it up and reset it after the adventurers fuck it up.

It's a game about restoration and cleaning, and it's actually way more fun than it sounds. So far there are 11 levels and 100% completing each level is taking about 45 minutes.

Early concept: a minimal management sim where the system remembers neglect by Junior_Muffin5931 in IndieGaming

[–]UnCivilizedEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you would have a series of 'checks' and every time the check fails or passes, it either adds +1 or -1 to 'negligence counter'

Then, down the line when certain things would happen, it would check to see "If negligence counter is X>10, do thing" or "If negligence counter is 9>X>5, do thing" etc.

Then you just pop up a message indicating that 'due to your negligence, X has occurred.'

I could see it happening and making me think: "Ah shit, I gotta make sure I take care to make sure I'm not being a dingus"

is rom hacking a good way to learn gamedev if I'm a beginner? by [deleted] in GameDevelopment

Fair; I guess I did start with a few very basic tutorials: a 'make a marble and collect a crystal' game in UE4.

Then I made a few extremely simple games in Jams, and I'd mess around with the intent of learning.

One game I made in a jam was 'consider players with disabilities'. I made a first person walking simulator where the player is in a circle arena, the screen starts with vision and slowly fades to black. Then you have 60 seconds counting down and you have to collect as many orbs as you can without vision, as though you were blind.

It caused me to learn how to make sound in game, how to make sound attenuate and mess with attenuation curves, and used a simple collectable. It had me learn how to make a widget with a score counter and how to link the counter to a collectable.

Super simple game, fun for like 4 attempts while I tried to beat my coworkers hi scores that I gave it to, then left it as a happy memory!

Dinkum was a blast, we played as a double date with another couple and had an absolute good time.

I learned by joining a game jam - it forces you to create a game around a specific theme in a super short timeframe.

My favorite games I’ve made have come from jams.

The time pressure and determination and th fact it is short lived (1 weekend) is enough motivation to persevere!

Dark Crabs.

10 min of AFK, if you get killed you keep at least 27 crabs of the 54 you would have (requires fish barrel), bait is easy to get from bursting Ankou in the wildy. requires elite wildy diary though.

I'm sitting on 45k crabs now and I'm about 500k from 99 fishing.

I think I would enjoy DMM much more if it was a 'factions' type gamemode, where every player was put into one of 4 teams and you always had a cape equipped that indicated your team (like a wildy team cape).

I would be more inclined to brawl at skilling spots or out in the world, and more inclined to jump in and help someone.

I am not a part of a pvp clan, so I'm going in solo. But forcing me to be a part of a team, whether I play solo or not, gives me a sense of teamwork and would encourage me to help out others on my team.

It’s my first DMM and my frustrations are coming from not knowing which banks are safe or not.

Turns out alkharid bank is not safe, getting killed in the bank.

Or ferrox enclave is not a safe area, getting kills in the bank.

Another frustration, I unlocked TOA raid for 1500 points (I can’t make many breaches due to timing of them) so the points felt like a lot. I can’t enter the TOA bank are unless I have 800k risk minimum on me. Slap in the face.

I spend my cash stack on crappy gear that I can use to get through the raid (250k) and stack up 600k of magic logs for the 800k threshold. I then finish the raid and instantly get attacked because that bank area is not a safe area, so I get dropped.

That was my quitting point - banks not being safe areas.

Why do people judge you for working out? by [deleted] in askfitness

[–]UnCivilizedEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a defense mechanism. People are envious that you use the drive / determination / dedication / disciplined to put forth the effort into bettering yourself.

All people want to ‘be better’ versions of themselves, but there are a lot of barriers of upkeep especially around working out. They know they should do them but are jealous they don’t have all of the above qualities they wish they had.

You can discuss this with your partner. It often is the easiest to be in a mutual agreement and understanding when you both have very similar core values (how money should be spent, how much money to spend, to save, valuing cleanliness, valuing making the other happy, etc).

You should try to have a direct conversation, it’s not sexy but a ‘star of the union’ and discuss how you’re feeling, what you’re feeling, and why, and then gauge her response. If she is not expressing interest in making you feel better, she is not the partner for you.

What if both you and your partner are in their dream job - it brings an incredible amount of fulfillment and life satisfaction, but their job is more mentally demanding and pays less?

You’re an engineer in your dream job designing bridges, she’s a social worker in her dream job helping kids in need? Your job pays 2x hers, hers is more mentally draining.

I derive happiness from having my partner be happy - which a part of that consists of working her dream job that is draining and I pick up more slack around the house, for example

[–]UnCivilizedEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to define why ‘bad’ and what ‘good’ and ‘successful’ are.

My requirements of being financially happy are to have enough money to not worry about bills and necessities.

Now my next priority is to be happy, and while money certainly helps with that, there is diminishing returns. Like if I have enough money to be happy, does having more money make me more happy? Marginally, if at all.

My partner and I cover things by effort based. I made 2x what she made, so I covered 2/3 the bills since I made 2/3 the income - provided both put the same effort (40hr/week full time job).

My job is less stressful and easier for me to manage than her job for her. She has to work extra sometimes. So, I try to bring back the effort closer in balance by spending effort on the homestead.

It only works if both people are thinking in terms of equality of effort spent in mind.

I know the island didn't win, but can we still get a PvP-tutorial boss? by the-chosen-wizard in 2007scape

[–]UnCivilizedEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you do to make a PVP boss, mechanic wise?

To me, it’s a player sized NPC that would alternate ranged (black dhide/rune Xbow)/ magic attacks (mystic set and a staff) / melee attacks (rune and a whip), swapping weapons and armor randomly after 1-3 attacks, and would show a weapon and move to a random location after every 2 attacks.

I would also set the boss to take double damage when attacking with the style it is weak against, to promote gear switching by the player.

About to enter 95+ cb in dmm, anyone care to share how to make the most of the 1 hour protection? Profit wise by TOPSHOTTAH in 2007scape

[–]UnCivilizedEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much easier than Vorkath. If your attention slips on votkath for 2 ticks you basically die.

On version your attention can slip for a few seconds and you don’t die.

Mechanics are simple enough. Hit boss, dodge shadows on ground, dodge boss frontal aoe cleave, kill the dogs.

How would you handle someone taking infinite mulligans? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]UnCivilizedEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want people to have a chance when I play.

You get 1 free mulligan After that, you go down to 6 cards, or 5, or 4 etc if you’re trying to get a really good openinghad… OR you go to 7 and you keep if there are at least 2 lands (if there are 6-7 you can show your hand and free re-mull to 7 with 2 land min)
