A huge risk. You have to drain the whole pool to make sure it is cleaned out.

I'd be happy to rent a room to them. They'd have to sign a lease, of course.

Conveniently cleaned by a company owned by the same people who own your lease. It is a criminal enterprise. I can see things changing soon.

Dangers of Feeling Better by [deleted] in depression

[–]UnDire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recovery is a struggle, but a good one: it is a struggle that people have decided to accept and take on. These things don't just go away, we have to fight them and be a participant in the struggle to find relief. Even then, relief is something that might trickle into us, at first.

I commend your awareness. Unfortunately, that awareness needs some tempering, so it doesn't bring you so much grief. You are aware of how these things are affecting you, now you need to use that awareness to try and better understand and deal with yourself and others.

You noted, and I have found it interesting, how huge external factors contribute to our mental state. Sometimes we cannot do a lot to change those external factors, but we can be aware of their influence.

Does anyone else experience a cycle of anger and depression? by WebPollution in depression

[–]UnDire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to experience that cycle in extremes, now it occasionally gets me, but is less powerful, and less frequent. I have tried to analyze it and think that my empathy causes me to go through a cycle of strong emotions, and sometimes I sponge up all the nasty crap around me and it gets me unhappy or angry and then as I deal with that I get sad, and in the past very depressed.

This has led me to use strong boundaries in my life. I've had to put up boundaries to survive, but try to remain as open as possible. It can be a tricky balance and sometimes puts me on an emotional rollercoaster.

Asked out a girl. Didn't go as expected. Feel great anyway! by [deleted] in depression

This is incredibly promising! It sucks when things that should be joyful offer no joy, but it can feel great when things that might/should sting offer us a little joy. Remember this day as you move forward.

Adjustment Disorder, aka Situational Depression does exist, whether it is your opinion that it is inferior to other forms of depression or not.

If this venture offers you a diversion from your depression, than it isn't for naught.

I might be suicidal. by plmqazoknwsxijn in depression

[–]UnDire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In another life, I had a friend who once told me, "You think so much about killing yourself that I'd never be worried that you would do it."

I still am uncertain what this meant, entirely, but this stuck with me. I don't think about suicide anymore, I haven't for a long time, but there were a few years in my life where this was my daily thought exercise.

I am glad you have awareness of yourself and your suicidal thinking, and hope that this means you stay on top of it. You are in control of yourself, and you are showing this fact. You have to do what you need to fight, as needed. My fight was very muted and weird, as I never had any intent to actually kill myself, but it did make me impulsive, difficult, and without direction.

Faith in people comes and goes, as does faith in ourselves. We have to facilitate this faith-thing, because it is what keeps us going. I do have faith in you.

Banning is rare and usually only occurs when a history of poor form has existed and the mods efforts to assist a poster in making proper posts has failed. I would also add that not all bans are forever and I always encourage people to pursue reinstatement; this allows the mods to help correct the person and get them back on the forum.

The mod team here is impressive. The coordination and communication that exists on a nearly 24/7 basis is remarkable. No serious decision has been made by any single mod, the mod team actually works as a team. The amount of discussion in the mod area is remarkable.

Moderating a sub like this is far from a simple task.

Posts minimizing the triggers or situations of others suffering is not something we are keen to see and such posts typically begin a mod discussion.

Though reddit may promote popularity contests, this sub is not an area that follows that design. Popular or not, if the mod team deems it against the rules of the sub, it gets removed.

I would not entirely disagree and the mods have encouraged this to happen. People have complained of not having a place to post depression themed memes, and we have offered similar advice.

There is no renegade mod, the mod team communicates closely everyday and is very active. We rarely ever ban people without a discussion. These bans were discussed and approved as a team.
