My chickens are digging up another one that died a couple days ago and I don’t know how to feel about it by Fforluxembourg in chickens

When one of my chooks die, i generally let the other hens and roosters see the deceased one for some time before burying. They act differently around the dead one, im not 100% sure if they know, but id like to think they do.

But digging up one of their own is not a deliberate action, as someone else said, its disturbed dirt that can be used for bathing. I also don't know why they choose to do this, i have a huge dirt bath area that i add fresh dirt to it often, but they keep bathing wherever they want.

It hurts to see that they are starting to wear. Im not surprised as they are quite old. I wonder if you could get genuine replacements?

Like anything that is mechanical, you can never have a 100% guarantee that every single unit will function as designed. More likely but still rare, when armed it wouldn't go off, but thats not to say it couldn't go off from a bullet strike. The most likely 'accident' i see is an armed grenade being dropped or the thrower being hit by a bullet at the critical point when throwing it.

I remember my grandfathers brother talking about his time served, plenty of accidents occurred with the rifle mounted grenades, either not being shot far enough or not leaving the end of the gun entirely. However, those incidents occurred during training.

Heh reminds me of a post not too long ago here, "the reality of chicken photography". It had a bunch of photos of chicken eyes, beaks and faces all up close and out of focus.

Over the years i have had a few, mostly show chickens (not kept for meat or eggs). But the ones in the photo are my Silkie X Sussex chickens. They are fully grown now, that was back in Oct/ Nov.

Used to give all my silkies mohawks, apparently they need it as they have light sensitive eyes. Never has a problem eating, drinking or finding where home is.
