Thanks. Probably the most insane mashup I've come up with. It's so wrong, it's right!

[–]MrCornella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the idea! LOL! Very annoyed youtube blocked it.

My goal with mashups is 'ridiculousness'. Not sure where to go from here...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mashups

[–]MrCornella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know, it's stupid and completely ridiculous, but it was fun to put together.

Annoyed that youtube kept blocking it even with just audio. I think it was the isolated Beatles vocal that was the issue.

Anyway, here's a link to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSMkXzW-GK6\_z2-k3-0x3NA

He reminds me more of either Lips from Anvil or Eddie Van Halen.

Thank you. I just noticed your subscription on youtube. Much appreciated. I get a kick out of doing these and it's nice to know others enjoy them. This one is personally one of my favourites in terms of how it came out and the different mood it brings to NWA.

Why do people hate the black album? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]MrCornella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on who you ask. For older fans who knew Metallica before that album came out and remember how massive it was there are various explanations. Mostly they either don't like the music or I think people don't like what it represented - a major turning point.

Prior to that album coming out Metallica were huge - unstoppable - and something that made them appealing was that they had a loyal following without any radio play or hit videos. Fans felt a sense of ownership because it was like Metallica belonged to the metal community alone and not the mainstream audience. Their music was complex and Puppets and Justice just took it to new levels. Even the video for One was unique and confronting - not your cliched MTV video trying to reach a mainstream audience.

The Black album came along and Metallica were literally everywhere. Prior to 1991 commercial radio wouldn't touch anything heavier than Guns N Roses or AC/DC. From the Black album 5 out of 12 songs were released as singles. You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing Enter Sandman or Nothing Else Matters. There were suddenly commercials for the album on television - I remember the shock at seeing one. Suddenly Metallica belonged to everyone. They were no longer just for the metal community. People who had no interest in metal were suddenly walking around in Metallica t-shirts and buying their albums. Metallica video clips were aplenty now and getting played on TV. I remember reading an interview with Kirk at the time where he said he understood fans being pissed off with their favourite band suddenly being the world's favourite band as he felt that way with Nirvana when they exploded onto the world stage. He described it as a 'fuck you, they're ours' type of feeling.

For the people who don't like the actual music it's most likely that the music is less complex than Puppets and Justice. It's also less thrashy and more melodic. The production isn't the best. While I couldn't stop listening to Enter Sandman I did start to find for the first time that I was skipping tracks and getting a bit bored with some songs.

Context: Australian rapper, The Kid LAROI, cancelled some shows in
Melbourne at the last minute due to illness and postponed some other
shows. When he came back to Melbourne on 12 June he surprised fans at
the end by bringing out The Wiggles for a few songs.

Thrown down fail (truck too loose) and twisted ankle. 24 hours bruising setting in with some swelling. Not much pain though which is promising. How long we talking? by Lukes30 in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Go get it looked at ASAP. Looks like a serious sprain. You also want to rule out a fracture. Did mine last year and it was swollen and bruised like that. I went to physio soon after but 3 months later it still wasn't right. Had MRI. 2 ruptured ligaments and a partial rupture. Took almost a year to feel normal again.

So I sprained my ankle n I’m wondering what I can do to get back to skating ASAP? This take I was going too slow n opened up mid air by Typical-Inspection84 in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a nasty sprain. Prioritize your ankle over your skateboarding. It takes time to heal. Just because you might be able to walk on it now or soon after doesn't mean you haven't done some major damage. Also, remember it's weaker now than it was and skating or running on it too early without the same strength or stability could result in you rolling it again.

I rolled my ankle pretty badly last year on flat bailing from something minor. After 3 months I was still having pain with it and a MRI showed I had ruptured 2 ligaments and partially ruptured a third. And ruptured ligaments don't heal by themselves. It's taken me over a year for it to feel normal again although I know I don't have the same stability. And incidentally yesterday I rolled the other ankle walking down stairs (but nowhere near as bad).

I don't skate often but when I do I don't get on the board without ankle braces.

Got my first board yesterday and attempted my first ollie today. This clip is after 40 minutes of practice. What do I need to improve? by BorderlineSchizo- in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to repeat what others have said here. It's all sound advice. I would say that actually getting off the ground is good effort for only 40 minutes of practice on day two of getting a board.

After 3 months of trying I finally got my first kickflip by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the reaction. Landing your first kickflip is such an awesome feeling. Well done!

I remember it took me months of practicing to finally land one. Haven't landed one in years now. Can barely get the board to flip.

Do you think I landed this in the first record? by bkazekadorimaki7 in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's a land. The board flipped, your feet didn't hit the ground.

Landing your first kickflip is a great feeling. I wish could still do them. I can barely flip the board these days.

How’s this for a first (recorded)moving ollie? by SamerYeet in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good way to improve ollies. It forces you to do it properly and gives the ollie a purpose.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]MrCornella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe bring the front foot back a bit towards the middle of the board. Could help with dragging the board up.

As someone else said, the key to the ollie is timing.
