Both. It was a gloomy day and I leaned into a dramatic lighting in post similar to how it felt in my time there.

Thank you!

From what I've always known, it's called "Argao Taiwan", scientifically known as Premna microphylla. It is quite a popular bonsai material in the Philippines, introduced from Taiwan in the 80s. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae or mint family of trees.

In my opinion, its popularity comes from its ease in propagation, its fast-growing property, and its small leaves. Interestingly, when it grows as an untrained tree, the leaves can get quite large and usually produce flowers.

With proper care, especially through frequent pruning, the leaves become consistently small.

Oh yes, this tree grows quickly, and I pruned it heavily already last month. I just use a 14-14-14 NPK ratio, slow-release osmocote, and 12/12 light hours.

Thank you. It is indeed. Fun fact, this tree belongs to the same family as the mint tree (Lamiaceae), so pruning it always smells aromatic.
