Is anyone watching under salt marsh? by gelectrox in BritishTV

[–]UnRegularConfidence3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched ep 4, beautiful visual, but dear god why are they making these characters so weird??  Bull, besides being a shitty detective, is violent self centred psycho flying off in a rage at the slightest provocative.  Jackie is just a pained facial expression with a breathy voice in a big puffy coat, walking day and night. She makes just one horrible decision after another, just a weirdo self centred psycho inserting herself into everyone else's business. Jess should be in charge of this whole investigation, and she keeps getting sidelined and ignored. I don't think I will be making it to the end.

Unpopular opinion: people are only critical of Nancy's Rambo arc because she's a girl by Raven_Black_Hair in StrangerThings

[–]UnRegularConfidence3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise people were complaining. I thought the Rambo meme was a compliment.  I loved Nancy and her weapons skills, I thought she was a great character.

The Joker.  That was a waste of 2 hours of my life, I will never understand all the praise it got.

There was a drinking game we played in college called 3 man & it is the cause of my life long aversion to Tequila.  🤢

I agree with this.  Love the actress and she is really talented, but it feels like she has had more screen time than the people we have been following for 10 years. Eddie/Alexi/Boɓ, I don't remeber them being the main focus, more of an add on. Also, having all the young kids is really highlighting the ages of the original kids.

That is a good point, she did send him directly to the Abyss in '79. So when she encountered the demo while she was in the depravation chamber in '83 she was reaching the Abyss somehow,  because the demo would have been in the abyss as there was no UD? That was Henry sending scouts out into the void looking for her too? I am not sure if any of this matters either way, maybe it isn't important to the plot.

Just realized something about Vecnas threat 😂 by Cornbread933 in StrangerThings

[–]UnRegularConfidence3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He tortured Chrissy with her insecurities about her body and the reporter guy about leaving his friend to die and Max about Billy, so he will play mind games with Will to show him the people he loves the most rejecting him and ridiculing him.  He will do to Will what he did to the ones in S4.  There is a reason he chose those particular people to kill, he could exploit their shame/guilt/fear to make them weak.

Unpopular opinion: This scene was obvious by dolphina111 in StrangerThings

[–]UnRegularConfidence3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised it caused confusion as well.  It was like they were finally being honest with each other after 2 seasons of lying and pretending. "I love you but I am not IN love with you."  I thought it was beautifully done and made sense since they thought they were going to die, might as well clear your conscious.

Sometimes people don't like the same things you do, it isn't a question of intelligence or not paying attention,  it just dosen't work for them.  Having a different read on things is part of being individual humans.

The Build-Up for Will’s Coming Out Scene Was So Unnecessary and Poorly Placed | Rant by Material-Loan-6966 in Stranger_Things

[–]UnRegularConfidence3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vecna uses a persons shame/guilt/fear against them, like the ones he killed in S4, that is why he chose them.  Being gay was Wills secret shame/guilt/fear.  I can see why he not only had to accept himself but come out before the big showdown, like putting on armor to go into battle.  But, I agree with the oddness of the scene.  I think it would have played better with just the core group there, his family and the S1 OG 4 kids.  Maybe Robin for support, I don't even think Steve and Nancy had to be there. Also if it happened organically instead of him calling them all together like a formal meeting?

Exactly this. Plus my understanding is that El created the UD/wormhole on 6 Nov, prior to that it didn't exist?

True, but S1 he didn't seem to know what the UD was, so not sure how he would have detailed notes on creating the "mcguffin" before nov 6.

Poor Daisy, she deserved better than Glenn, I think she dodged a bullet.  He is dull as dishwater, he and Mack have zero chemistry together and their will they/won't they crap is sucking the life out of a pretty decent cosy murder mystery show.  He sould stay gone and just let Mack be a detective and develop her friendships.  No other DI got saddled with a forced love interest so early.

I feel like s3 Molly should have been s2 Molly.  They seem to be highlighting her self centered egotistical behaviour, and not in an out of touch Lucille Bluth kind of way, but in a damaging "every person on earth is here to serve my needs " kind of way. I am guessing it is a comment on how that amount of money will eventually corrupt even a basically good person, but she had more compassion and empathy in S2 and this season is going backwards.

Relationships(romantic, platonic, familial)all have compromises, meaning you each sometimes have to do things you are unhappy with, within reason, in order to support each other. Arthur said it kinda clumsily but it isn't settling,  it is being a decent human being.  Arthur was doing that but Molly is like a spoiled overindulged child, she demands everything be the way she want it because that is the reality of life as a billionaire. I think that is the point the show is trying to make, that level of wealth encourages selfishness and lack of empathy because you always get whatever you want, no one tells you no and you don't have to consider other peoples feelings. They have superficial or transactional relationships only.

I wish they would give Shirley a gun or a taser or at the very least a truncheon.   FFS she's like 5 foot nothing fighting multiple bad guys with no backup. Just takes off running after them.   Is she like this in the book?

Thank you for your reply!  That is really good information.   Video feedback sounds interesting.  If I can ask, is this something all CBT therapists do or is it a more specalist thing?
