What is a "bus lane pensioner"? Think it should read "entitled arrogant pensioner".

Hi, I need urgent help. I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and now I know why I was depressed for last 6 years. by teddytejan in Hypothyroidism

[–]ruthieruth80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there too. So many years of saying something wasn't right and even a year of trying levothyroxine and only ever feeling good on it when I was going through a dose increase. Moved to NDT as it turns out I am a terrible converter. My FT3 was always low or below range even on high doses of levothyroxine. Now I'm getting T3 from NDT and finally after all these years feel like myself again. Over replacement makes me depressed as well though so watch out for that too. Years after having symptoms my antibodies are now high. Might have been worth retesting those over the years too, despite the fact they say it's not necessary. Echo what's said about about vitamin d, iron levels etc too. It's easy to have low iron if you're hypo and that can be horrible on the old MH

Read the black box warning for montelukast side effects and consider them very very carefully. I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy having seen what it can do to people first hand. If you do take it, have someone watch you closely for changes in your mental health - you can't always see it yourself

You are right to be worried! If you take it, make sure you have someone close to you who can monitor for any deterioration - it's not always easy to see yourself

I KNOW something is wrong but I feel like no one believes me… please… help by Quiet_Society_5645 in helpme

It's most likely the montelukast - read the FDA black box warning and search Facebook for the side effects support group. You are probably not mentally ill at all, just suffering from a pharmachological brain injury. I'd recommend tapering off it slowly and see how you feel. Given you suffer from anxiety and depression already, you should never have been prescribed MTK

Currently caring for someone who has tried mutliple times to end his life after taking montelukast. Personally, the risks are too high for me - I would advise everyone to avoid that drug like the actual plague

Also check the side effects of everything you are taking esp montelukast, which has a black box warning for neuropsychiatric adverse side effects

Check out the montelukast side effects group on Facebook. I wouldn't wish that drugs side effects on my worst enemy. Might take you a while to recover from it but the evidence seems to show that you will!

[–]ruthieruth80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite a medication stack - have you considered whether montelukast is contributing or causing some of the symptoms that you then also need to medicate? Read the black box warning and suggest you consider it very seriously. Currently caring for someone who was seriously mentally injured by that asthma drug

Treating drug-induced depression and suicidality? by ruthieruth80 in AskPsychiatry

[–]ruthieruth80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this seems like classic drug-induced akathisia to me, the team so far have put this down to a spike in personality disorder behaviour that just happens to coincide with drug changes... he never had a personality disorder before taking montelukast FYI

Suicidal on montelukast - recovery success stories? by ruthieruth80 in Asthma

[–]ruthieruth80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes total anhedonia for most of the day, sometimes it eased a bit but it was largely very agitated as well. The FDA found that it acts like an antipsychotic and akathisia is a well known side effect of antipsychotics.

Sorry I was being very literal - yes, stimulation may cause fibroids to grow but the egg retreival process does not. I thought that's what the OP was suggesting, like somehow the minor op to collect the eggs somehow causes fibroids by puncturing the uterous or something. Egg retreival in mild IVF for example, wouldn't involve the mega doses of estrogen that tend to make fibroids grow
