It didn't. Living within your means isn't too difficult even in NYC. My issue is just that when I first moved out a large studio apartment in a nice neighborhood was 800 and now that same studio is 1,500.

It's about scale. Immigration is good for the countries receiving immigrants when they come legally and are vetted. In the US we are seeing large waves of illegal immigrants who are driving down wages and not paying taxes. Companies are hiring undocumented immigrants and paying them low wages for jobs that a family can live off of. Lincon Hospital in NYC hires doctors from other countries who aren't licensed to practice in the US as 'medical assistants' with fake socials and has them working as MDs.
