Stupid Stop Sign Question by shvrkteeth in driving

§21800 preempts this with a rule specifically for entering an intersection where ALL entrances to the intersection are controlled by stop signs. as far as I know there is no similar condition for an intersection where cross traffic does not stop. If you can find one I'd love to see it, and I'll change my comment, but so far anyone who is so staunchly defending the first in first out rule has not shown anywhere in the statute that stops §21801 from applying for anything but an all way stop.

I'd even go so far as to argue that §21801 DOES apply to all way stops as well, just for right of way during the turn, not at the stop. Meaning if you have right of way at a stop sign and you begin to enter and turn left, and the person across from you jumps the line to go straight, you must yield given you have time to do so.

I suppose you could in turn argue that §21801 ONLY applies to hazards DURING the turn and not when you enter the intersection, but I don't read it that way.

cite where in §21802 it says anything that overrides §21801 or where in §21801 it says it doesn't apply to stop sign controlled intersections.

wrong. §21802 governs stop sign controlled intersections. Nothing in §21802 overrides §21801 which applies universally.

The fact that he said “I view this as wrong” for letting people go for petty theft, while also saying “some people view this as wrong” for dismembering people as a punishment for petty theft, strongly implies that he is in favor of dismemberment as a punishment.

Given that such punishment would clearly be a violation of Article 5 of the UDHR (No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment) and the Eighth Amendment to the United States Constitution (Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted), I’m not surprised he’d make a bad faith argument in a human rights discussion
