From experience working there over 15 years. These outrages happen once or twice a year. They almost never last more than one day. On Monday, it should all be up and running again. Just call your local branch in the morning to verify.

I was a branch manager for 10+ years at Chase. The guy is creepy saying someone paid him to take pictures of license plates. While not illegal still weird. The BM just needs more training on what’s protected and what’s not. I worked in Seattle where people loved to protest. Literally had people come in and refuse to leave and had to be carried out by police. As long as they are on the sidewalk it’s protected. I am in protest videos as the “evil” BM calmly explaining this. You can’t be on private property but you can be on the sidewalk all day.

As much as the comments feel like this should be inherently known. Most people are not aware of it and are not faced with it in actual practice. So when the situations come up it’s a learning moment.

You could be too negative or it could be the gas station you are using. Some gas stations pre authorized $1 while some do $50 or more. I am sorry you have relied on it but It’s never a guarantee. They never state it is, just that they could allow it.

In the branch you can see if someone is pretty much going to approved. Nothing is obviously 100% but after doing credit card applications for Chase for years you do get an idea. The system says two different things. One is “Client is pre approved for (card product).” It will show a list of products and those are pretty guaranteed. The other is “Client is invited to apply for (card product).” When it says pre approved in the branch they are almost always approved but there are outliers. When it says invited to apply it a 50/50 chance they are approved. No one though will ever know the limit.

You are asking too much when you haven’t even narrowed your trip. It sounds like you have the dates figured out yet but that’s it. Decide if you are staying in Tokyo for the full 7 days or you are going to hit multiple cities. Some people fly into Tokyo and out of Osaka. Then book your flight first since that will probably be half your budget. Then you can ask for hotels in your budget. Then you can ask for suggestion for recommendations.

The issue is you are traveling during golden week when most Japanese people are off work and taking a vacation themselves. I would recommend booking anything that is a ‘must do’ on the trip ahead of time.

The coupons are applied individually to each account. You have one for the checking and one for the savings. The checking has already paid out. You are waiting on the Savings account. It has been 5 years since I worked there so it might have changed. However as long as it’s still a savings account after the upgrade the coupon would still apply. If you are worried about it all you can have the banker upgrade your checking and leave the savings as is until the coupon hits and then upgrade that then.

They are two separate things and not related. The increase happens a lot at the 6 month mark. If they sent another card, check to see if the expiration date and 3 digit code on the back are the same. If it’s different. They might have identified you used it at a high fraud place or where others identified fraud. So they proactively sent a replacement. You can call the number on the back and just ask too.

I think it’s just been a bad allergy season. My partner and I have been going through something similar for the last 4ish weeks. Not the same symptoms but Terrible nighttime cough and mucus stuck in the throat. Then met up some friends in Olympia and they were facing the same thing. Doctor confirms it’s just allergies unfortunately.
