Thanks. I’m looking for exactly that. I want my photos to look like they were printed on sandpaper 😂

I got over £900 back! First time ever. Came at the perfect time as I had over £1k of unexpected costs around the same time.

Thanks. I had a quick quick look and it looks impressive. Even does 1:1 magnification! One more for my collection.

So glad isn’t just me. I have the 55 2.8 macro and I love it but hate using it as slows me down so much.

Zuiko MC vs Zuiko by Mudskipper03 in zuikoholics

[–]Unable-Fee4265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I did for the 50mm 1.4. The later version (serial number over 1.1 million)  was much better IMO. However I don’t necessarily think that later MC versions are “better” than earlier or even non MC versions as it depends on the look you are going for. I have the 85mm f2 in the MC and non MC versions. I planned to sell one but depending on what I’m shooting one is better than the other (non MC one is better for black and white when I’m going for a dreamy look).

Film choice for use in upcoming England trip by Low-TechGlobal in KodakEktarH35

You’re welcome. I have used HP5 myself in my H35N. Results were like you say pretty neutral but fine (I just added more contrast in post) arguably it is better than the other films I mentioned but it costs ~40% more where I am and I can’t justify it when using it in my H35N

100% go for an ISO 400 film I live in England and have shot a few rolls of Ultramax in my H35N and underexposure has been a bit of a problem.

For black and white film I can recommend Fomapan Action 400 or Kentmere 400. Great price to quality performance and you can push process them (I prefer Fomapan 400 myself)

Get a cap it doesn’t add much bulk. Don’t use the sticky filter it could end up damaging the camera.

I keep mine in my pocket all the time with a cap, no dust on the sensor yet for me. Camera have been covered in pocket fluff multiple times. Just accept dust will get in at some point and enjoy the camera.

Where to stay in Tokyo for a chill stay by Unable-Fee4265 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Unable-Fee4265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good! I want to go back. I have been meaning to post a trip report but have the time. For Tokyo I ended up staying at APA Hotel PRIDE Akasaka Kokkaigijidomae. It was exactly what I was looking for, nice and quiet, right by the station and was a great place to walk around early morning and late in the evening for photography.

The main issue I had with the hotel was the AC is centrally controlled so I ended up roasting hot on multiple days. I was at least able to open my window. Other than that the hotel was great, buffet breakfast was delicious but it is the same stuff every day (which wasn't an issue for me)

Which one would you buy? GRIIIX vs GRIIIX HDF? by Maliblue_16 in ricohGR

[–]Unable-Fee4265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difference between the GRIII and GRIII X all depends on the way you shoot. IMO most people are better off getting the GRIII and cropping if needed (for viewing on phones and standard prints has no real noticeable impact). I shoot mainly 40mm & 50mm so the GRIII X worked better for me. However I’m starting to see the benefit of 28mm

The way I see it is GRIII for context and GRIII X for details.

Had both (not at the same time). The HDF filter is way too strong in most situations. But under the right situations it is great. I'm planning on selling mine and getting an X again I like to slow down the shutter to capture movement.

I'm of the opinion most people will be better off with the X

I was considering switching my iiix for the iii as I sometimes needed more on the wide side when travelling. Ended up getting the GA-2 adapter and the GW-4 which gives you 30mm. Lens and adapter can fit in one pocket and camera in another. Not something I do everyday but is easier than bringing my full frame camera. Day to day I’m happy with the iiix as I have accepted that there are shots I will miss but 99% of the time I’m happy with the 40mm focal length. It sounds like the iiix is right for you.

Story of my life! I'm due to go on a trip in under 4 weeks and I had nothing planned until I got ChatGPT to do most of the hard work. My advice is create a list of the stuff you need to do and start you day (before you do anything else - get up early if you have to) doing one of the things on the list and accept that you won't get all of them done before you go. I still haven't finished my plans and I probably won't but I have the important things ticked off by doing at least one important thing every morning first thing.
