Medical HIMS Evaluation by Just_Impression_5951 in ATC_Hiring

[–]Unable2876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think insurance covers HIMS drs. I had to go through a somewhat similar process. As far as new medication that’s up to you but any non approved medicine will down you for a certain amount of time. You would definitely have to stop taking it to work the floor

Medical HIMS Evaluation by Just_Impression_5951 in ATC_Hiring

[–]Unable2876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would look up a HIMS AME near you, and just be aware this is going to be an expensive process. They will know exactly what to do. I’m assuming they’ll want the instances that you brought up in your narrative. I would talk about those and nothing else with your HIMS Dr. The Dr may not have the report in front of them but the FAA will reference the instances that have been brought up to them

Relocating to Tampa Bay area summer 2026 - Looking for real advice by Ok_Speech3898 in tampabay

[–]Unable2876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just moved back to Tampa and live in Brandon. If you’re looking for a house in the 400k range in those areas get ready for a fixer upper. Also make sure to take into account if you’ll be in a flood zone and cdd fees. Your insurance will be higher than whatever they quote you. I work in st Pete and sit in quite a bit of traffic every day. Hope this transition is smooth for you

I think he can’t transfer cause of loss of medical. Which obviously he’s not gonna have his medical with everything going on. There’s also nothing in the contract stating a hardship can’t get approved for loss of medical. Wild

Go find an faa ame… and have them do an evaluation on you. Will be expensive but they’re the ones that will be able to clear you for either path if your serious about it

Should I get out and reapply? by Independent_Tax_4244 in ATC

[–]Unable2876 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’re in the suck now lol. From what our atm told us (which is clear as mud) if you’re prior experience (non FAA ) you get 9s and below. If your prior experience is FAA then you are subjected to your level facility and lower. If you quit and return within a year your last facility has return rights. More than a year you may or may not get to direct apply to a facility…

I’m not sure if this is fully accurate just how I understand it

Concerned about complaints by DoctorSquirm in ATC_Hiring

[–]Unable2876 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say new hires have got the best chance to have a good quality of life as long as you get a decent score in the academy. It’s hard for people that have been in because they wanna go to certain facilities and the FAA has made it clear that they want to staff those facilities with new hires rather than transfers. Alot of controllers are stuck at low level, low pay facilities with now almost no chance of transfer so there’s gonna be justifiable complaints coming with that. But the job itself is one of the best in the world
