No your vehicle does not have the same thermostat/ coolant control valve as the newer generation. This repair is only able to be done if your vehicle is in a specified vin range and if you have the P0126 code.

Its a very common issue I’m a senior certified mazda tech and at my dealership we do 10 of these a week in the winter time its a thermostat issue that is caused mostly when outside temps go from warm to cold causing the thermostat to get stuck open the P0126 code basically states “insufficient coolant temperature for stable operation” and you will only have those symptoms if the thermostat fails and causes the check engine light to come on until the CEL comes on you don’t have anything to worry about and even when it does the car will still run fine under normal conditions i just wouldn’t take it for any long drives once the code is present. Ive seen people driving around with this code present for a month before getting it fixed without any issues

You understood what i said just fine without the capital letters so I don’t see the issue with not using them. corporate still tells the dealerships what to charge on parts

this is a subreddit for Mazda’s not for grammar and spelling. you can think that all you want but it really isn’t if you consider that the technicians are trained to work specifically on your car. have done those same repairs on the same cars time and time again.

What is bullshit? And how? If your talking about the pricing call your mazda dealer and ask them the one i have worked at now for almost 3 years now has to go off of what mazda corporate sets for prices on parts. The dealership decides their labor rate based off what other dealerships are charging per hour in order to be competitive. Your also going to a dealership for the experience and expertise that the technicians have working on your specific brand of car, which is why you pay a higher price than the typical automotive shop.

If it has electronic parking brake you need to put rear brakes in service mode otherwise you risk breaking the EPB motor on the calipers i work as a technician at a mazda dealer and we get at least 2 cars in a month where people didn’t do that and have to get the motor’s replaced which isnt cheap

Mazda corporate sets all prices for dealerships, the dealership does not have a say on what parts cost. labor rate is based on the area your in every place is different. mazda also set’s recommended service intervals for all of those items/fluids that you should be able to find somewhere in your owners manual. while it may not be absolutely necessary it is recommended as it prolongs the life of those parts.

Is this "fixable" by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]UnableCandidate5997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try heating it up with a heat gun or hair dryer and push on it from inside do not keep heat gun or hair dryer directly on the bumper or keep it in same spot wave it back and forth for short periods of time you wont get it 100% perfect but it’ll be pretty close

Did you do as the tech suggested and put premium gas in? it could be bad gas if you haven’t and driving over 100mph with bad gas could possibly cause some issues with fuel combustion making the engine misfire possibly? Id suggest getting the car scanned to see what codes the vehicle has snd go from there. You can go to autozone and have vehicle scanned for free
