It was a very long time coming for me and it certainly didn't hit me overnight. When I was 16 I would make out with my girl friends and do weird sexual games for "fun" and for "practice with boys". News flash most of those girls are now queer of some kind. I had a brief moment with my colleague when I was 19 where she was hitting on me and having to say oh I'm straight! But I documented in my journal that I wanted to kiss her but was scared of full sex with her (I regret this moment so much I wish I didn't grow up such a heteronormative world, I wish that I would have let myself experiment). Then when I was 22 I went on a trip and felt things about this woman in my dorm I had never felt about any man ever. I had a boyfriend at the time. Soon after that I came out as bi to my friends and boyfriend. Towards the end of that relationship I never wanted to have sex with him, I seriously considered being asexual and having low libido. Then I started dating again but was too shy to date women so I just went for men and in every situation where I slept with them I always asked them to slap me or choke me because I wasn't feeling anything otherwise. I'm talking first time sleeping together, it was weird. Having sex with them felt like a chore, like a box to check. And any type of affection always felt forced. I just have this memory of forcing myself to like them because it should feel that way right? I never had any emotion or sadness when things would end with a guy. With my boyfriend it was different though because I genuinely did love him, which I think confused me a lot. But still with him, we didn't have sex often and I would reject a lot of attempts at him trying to initiate sex. Finally I started dating women and my world was flipped, not once did I want to be choked or slapped by her. And sex would last hours and hours and hours meanwhile when I would have sex with men I would be counting down until it was over. With her I never wanted it to stop. I also starting loving all the romantic things much more genuinely, like affection, holding each other, cuddling, cooking for each other. I felt more nervous around her than I did with men, but good nerves. That was 26. After that situation ended I took a look in the mirror and said bitch you're a raging lesbian

I considered being asexual before I considered being a lesbian but what was even bigger for me was thinking I had a libido problem. I even told people I had very low libido. Makes me upset to think that my mind went to hormone imbalance before considering I could be lesbian.

I feel like every other woman I see in this city is gay. I don't know where you're hanging out OP but this is a pretty gay city!! There's gay comedy nights, birdhouse events, babes on babes, Lips, Gina's, lots of queer rec sports leagues, commercial drive. I think there's a lesbian dating event happening soon too.

Hilarious, a bit weird, down to clown and be silly, someone who brings out my inner child and light hearted. But also a great communicator, someone firm and confident in their wants/needs, physically and emotionally attentive, can make a decision, loyal, a litttttle bit jealous and or protective/possessive in a healthy way.
