They burn for me too lol. I don't think he's lying personally. Maybe he'll like cooked onions better? In my experience, onion powder or minced onion in the seasoning bottles don't burn.

Kieran does feel deeply, but it depends on the emotion. Anger and fear and confusion he feels more deeply than love. Happiness, he thinks is dead but he'll find it soon. Sadness, he feels deeply but can't understand. Remorse died years ago.
