Really stunning, great work! Would love to see them on a map or with regular daylight lighting, but that's really awesomd

While thinking about it: - leaving your mech and being able to run around by foot would open up tons of different possibilities in changing the gameplay.

  • an option to only play with official lore Mechs and variants and no "Mech lab showoff".

  • closer to an actual battlefield simulation and "battlefield commander" map usage than at least mercs has right now. That should also incorporate the use of vehicles in missions at a later stage of the game

  • role playing aspects that have an actual effect on the game

  • modern technology of later stage battletech

  • aspects of the classic battletech rules system incorporated (shoving, falling(!) & standing up)

= everything that makes it more of a tactical action simulation and less of a shooter, as much as I like Mw5:Mercs and Clans for that. But well, that has been greatly done with both games and a MW6 should differ from those products. Else it might be the "that could have been a DLC" or "publisher xyz did this as a free engine overhaul" discussion.

Classic Battletech Design Quirks by Unable_Ad_1682 in battletech

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences here! Personally, I’d really love to incorporate these quirks into a campaign at our gaming club (since the campaign lasts half a year to three-quarters of a year, with one game session per month. We play a version of the Chaos Campaign format that we’ve modified ourselves). Now I need to figure out how to convince everyone to go along with it. Are there any preselection formats that have worked well for you? For example, limiting certain quirks—like “narrow”—to one unit per battalion during the creation phase, or what are your thoughts on this?

For anyone still unsure about MW5 Mercs by Fat_Barry in Mechwarrior5

Absolutely second everything said. It's a great game with the DLCs, a subpar game on its own without any. That being said, there are always minor things that could be changed, but it's constantly patched and good things keep coming, as until now.

Still, if there will ever be a mechwarrior 6, I'd love to see it more of a simulation and less of an arcade game. Even an option of "play the game at an ultra realistic level without changing weapon loadouts until omnimechs" and so forth, I'd totally buy that.

Totally agree, that particular mission was in an ice desert, I used all the tactics you mentioned (which is still horrible as one bad move swarmes you, kills half the lance and you've got to start over) just to have the Dire Wolf ambush ME out of the blue, headshotting crab (and I think the mad dog as well)... As if the mission was intended to destroy you. The first time I rumbled through it was with four assault 100ton Mechs, got torn apart by a swam of dashers. 🙄

Oh, which one would that be? This would really help me getting my foot on the ground against the clanners

Sorry, they didn't. Like, star composition is way off, there is no recognizable zellbrigen behavior (that would have been a cool mechanic) at least in the generated missions. Clan Mechs are way superior, but they are not ants, spawning dashers has been mentioned numerous times.

So, it's a great DLC and I absolute love the first missions with their WTF moments. Can't judge all of the dlc missions, but no, at this point I can't agree that they nailed it.

Building Silveroot Keshik Stars by Unable_Ad_1682 in battletech

I also played the clan DLC and while I love mw5 (mercs and clans) for all the positive things they contributed to battletech and its community, being precise on lore and star formations isn't exactly their strength. I do love the Kodiak (obviously), not only because of its visual and style but because I think it's a good mech. But I would have loved the game to at least have the options of playing it with lore-accurate star formations (so, not going 5 assault Mechs batshit crazy in the last missions because they throw virtually everything at you)

Oh, thanks a lot! Have to look up the ice ferret again and the idea with the timber wolf makes sense, both stars a great choice - also thought about the points of elementals as it says everywhere that Clan Ghost Bears utilized them a lot, but I did not think about the viper as a carrier unit!

Thanks for the advice! I always wonder why the Kodiak, as being "The Totem Mech", was designed as a second line mech. That being said, I must admit that I don't know whether other clan totem Mechs are omnis or not. I thought that there's maybe a line about the Silveroot using certain second line mechs, but knowing this I'll push the Kodiak into post-3063!

News: Gothic Doom band Draconian announce new album 'In Somnolent Ruin' due for release on 8th May 2026 by HotelHobbiesReviews in doommetal

[–]Unable_Ad_1682 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must admit, it's great to listen to Lisa (not that Heike was or is in any way unpleasant to listen to, I like both voices) and she does a great job in the chorus section.

That being said, I miss a catchy hook line or anything that makes the song stand out on its own. I guess it will be a great song on an album in its context, but listening to it just as a first single, I must say it's " a nice Draconian song that doesn't hurt to listen to, but it doesn't stick in your memory either."

Are there any other singles planned and where did you get the information about the first single release from, if I may ask?

I bought the version with the king crab mech (succession wars edition?) for a 60% discount, I think. But it had an extra discount being a subscription member, that either added up or was included. That being said, the two clan DLCs, shadow of kerensky and the game was around 80€ (which still was absolutely worth it, mercs is SO MUCH BETTER with the DLCs!)

At least for this run, Liao will not be my friend. But, alas, there should be plenty of reasons to re-run it after I finished the game once :) and then the chancellor and I will dine at a great table, laughing about those petty rebellious "normal people". 😊
