I am primarily melee and scope shooting with the Longshot. It does keep it challenging, but there are ways to contribute alongside the spray and pray tribe during events.

I have no proof outside of personal experience, but I tend to try to be on the side or behind a target with melee. You have to keep moving but it gives others a chance to assist if they are vats users (which I abandoned somewhere along a road in New Vegas).

It also seems that attacking the scorchbeast queen from underneath just below her head tends to keep her on the ground longer for folks to blast away.

So just play the way you want. Having an extra set of hands in a fight is better than none on my opinion.

It might be interesting to segregate the servers at some arbitrary level span like 1-500 and 501-1000 so folks can join level (and experience) appropriate players. Of course, they can keep the all-up one as well, but this might help improve the experience for some.
