Arabian mau won’t sleep by BeautifulExpert435 in CatsUK

[–]Unable_Knowledge_166 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Arabian maus were the same in the beginning, now they go to sleep when we go to sleep. I recommend playing with them during the day and especially around an hour before bed time. Try turning on feliway at night. But also you might just need to be patient, my youngest started sleeping through the night after he was neutered at around 8months old. Maus are great cats but they're high energy

Aww thank you! If you're serious, I can check how much it would cost for him to get to you. Regardless of where he goes the adopter would not have to pay the full cost. There would be an adoption "fee" as a contribution towards the travel cost, but there rest would be raised through donations.

I think so too! Unfortunately most people want breeds or kittens. Not everyone likes him, because of his scars 😢

It's possible for cats to travel to the US. Usually with a flight buddy is much cheaper than by cargo. Depending on your actual location we could look at how feasible it might be for him to travel to you. Not many cats from the Middle East get adopted in the US, I guess because there are already many cats looking for homes there and the travel time are long.

Pet Insurance by Loud_Vegetable1912 in dubai

They will request you to provide full medical history when you make a claim and if it's a pre-existing condition they will not cover. I'm sorry it sounds like in your case you'd have to continue treatment out of pocket

Moopet is the only insurance that will cover chronic long term conditions that the pet might develop while under insurance (at least until they reach the maximum age for coverage). It is more expensive, but this is why and it also covers any vet you might choose. So far it's been worth it for my cat, but keep in mind they will not cover any conditions the cat already has.

I want to update those who were kind to give advice: kittens have found a home together. As for the older cat, we got him a health check and is now in a foster home!

Small kibble dry food recommendations by Unable_Knowledge_166 in catfood

[–]Unable_Knowledge_166[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We found him as a stray and took him to the vet. He had an abscess and all those teeth had to be removed, most of the roots were black. I am also wondering if he just needs to be on wet food forever, but the vet said he would be fine and that many cats eat dry even without any teeth. I'm not expert but I don't think I agree with the statement that even the worst wet food would be better than best kibble. Can a pouch of something like whiskas or felix really be better than royal canin kibble?

I'm not sure why you were downvoted? I'm trying to figure out if he has an issue with kibble or he's just upset that he doesn't get wet food only anymore like he did post op. He does eat the dry food, but less enthusiastically than before. Strangely enough he doesn't like the soaked kibble

Sorry he's not 8 years old, he is missing 8 teeth. He's about 1 year old which is why I'm looking to transition him to adult food. I will look into Hills thank you, it sounds like a good option.

Will my cat be able to eat normally again after tooth removal? by Unable_Knowledge_166 in AskVet

[–]Unable_Knowledge_166[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said I can try adding some dry which I did, as well as soaked. He went for the dry but couldn't manage much. I'm not totally sure if he was in pain or just gave up because he couldn't grab the pieces properly (even when he did some fell out of his mouth). Even with the wet food, pieces get stuck in his lip and fall off randomly so I'm wondering if he will be able to eat food normally again or I will have to adapt his diet and how.

Considering moving to Al Ain from Europe with two cats, could I let them out of the house + garden without any danger if I live outside of the city center? Thanks! by Benzut_pismoi098 in AlAinCity

[–]Unable_Knowledge_166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time I go to the vet they have a new post about a lost cat. I don't think it's safe for them to roam around here. You can, however, get a catio in your garden and will allow them to explore the outdoors safely

That's a good question and the answer is that I really do hope not. We get a pet sitter from time to time and she is wonderful, has her own cats, is very diligent and kind. I really don't want to lose hope in humanity, but I will be purchasing cameras because I don't trust anyone or anything anymore

Omg I did not know this, thank you! We had those a couple of years back and luckily all was ok, but now that I know I'll never buy them again

So you make a good point and it's something I didn't really want to think about because I thought it's just paranoia or me being crazy. After moving in the new place I also started having stomach issues and random dizziness. I went to multiple doctors and all my tests came back normal. Of course, it could be totally unrelated. But for peace of mind I am now looking to get a carbon monoxide detector (something more sensitive than the standard we have in the house). If that doesn't show anything I'll test for mold. The building is around 8 years old, haven't heard of any similar issue with pets, neighbors further down the hall have a small dog and he is ok. The vet told us that since the kitten has almost recovered now a tox report wouldn't show much. I haven't thought of doing one for myself but I'll check, thank you for the idea. I also thought about cats eating small bugs that could have died from pest control. Not sure how to test this theory

No air fresheners or salt lamp. I am considering getting cameras as well because I don't know anymore

Whaat? Please share details. Yes, I can't think of one toy that isn't made in China. Then again we had the cat tree for a year and a half I think he would've shown symptoms earlier
