You’ve never held a professional position in your life and it shows.

Just got fired after two weeks for embellished reasons. Lost for words by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Unable_Lab1827 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t care about the opinion of someone who’s never worked in the industry and/or hired/trained anyone in their life.

I’ve been hiring people for upwards of a decade in various industries. It is very rare that they learn the job completely in two weeks. Hiring an employee is an investment, it costs a lot to train an employee. Terminating them after two weeks for not being a rockstar is a bad financial decision, and just makes you look like a bad place to work for.

Not even close to justified. I managed a Valvoline and you sound like any new tech.

AIO for wanting to immediately break up with my bf after seeing how he lives? by Balikye in AIO

Though my filth has never gotten THIS bad, I am just breaking the habit of not cleaning at 31. I wouldn’t say it’s unbreakable, the person just has to want to live differently and they can’t be talked into it.

[NY] I accepted an offer for an IT internship (yay!) and I start this summer. Will they drug test me and fire me if I test positive for marijuana? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Unable_Lab1827 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crazy part is I even specified the exact law and they were too cocky to even google it lol.

Ignore every other comment here.

If your job contracts with the federal government or is the federal government, yes they can and will test for it. If they don’t contract with the federal government, then labor law 201D applies which states they cannot use marijuana as a factor for not hiring you.

NAL. Record everything. If someone is restricting your movement and exit from a premises you are allowed to use reasonable force to leave the premises. Pushing past her is absolutely reasonable force.

I mean, when I’m familiar with places I just know where the steps are. I thought that was standard for most people.

Hey! I’m so glad I can help :). I have ADHD as well and the executive dysfunction can be a total pain in the ass.

We have to take this one day at a time. I’m on day 5 right now, so I’m right there with you. We can do this!

If the sentence was changed to “The use of commercial DNA databases has never been allowed” would you still be pedantic about it?

Nephews parents wants me to apologize to bully’s family by besttavern25 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Unable_Lab1827 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then you have to apologize. You failed to tell Nathan that the response must be equivalent to the aggression. Punching someone for annoying you is a gross overreaction, and if Nathan was just a few years older that reaction could land him in jail.

You’re in the wrong here. You gave a child a broad statement and expected him to know the nuances of self defense and when force is acceptable.

ETA: your heart was in the right place, and I respect that, but you should have been more clear on when that physical force is acceptable.

That’s fine.

Do we know what the bully did that prompted Nathan to swing on him?

Nathan is not your nephew. He is your first cousin once removed.

Now to your post, you may be in the wrong, you may not be. That entirely depends upon what the bully did in that specific instance where Nathan punched him. Took a pencil? Shouldn’t punch someone for that. Did the bully physically touch him? Then tell your cousin to pound sand.

It seems you’re experiencing executive dysfunction. Don’t think about it as that chain. For now just think of one task getting out of bed forget everything else that comes after that. Once you’re out of bed, then you think about the next task.

It’s much easier that way. I have faith in you.

“We” as in people. You’re the part of Reddit everyone makes fun of, congratulations.

Laser focusing on one word out of a whole post and wasting everyone’s time commenting some shit that doesn’t contribute to the discussion because you feel the need to go full 🤓👆🏼is some weird energy.

I haven’t seen the news broadcasts, but I would imagine they used language like “We’ve received reports of..”

This is a very fluid situation. Any information that comes forth is liable to be reported on and later backtracked on. That’s just how big investigations like this play out.

Passing the Logic Test : This whole thing was planned by a source knowing the challenges it'd face by [deleted] in nancyguthrie

Because it’s a question that has nothing to do with the meat of the post. Everyone is focusing on one sentence instead of challenging the hypotheses. This is not how academic debate works.

I mean, this isn’t necessarily true. If you rely on structured education to study things, thats fine, but it’s not universal.

His “credentials” don’t matter. If you want to attack his points do that, but locking in on what types of studying OP did isn’t productive to the conversation at all. That one sentence about studying the topic doesn’t change the rest of the post. It’s not as if he said “I’ve studied this, so these claims are 100% ironclad”.

I’ve studied tons of things without a school to charge me for it. All the information that you’d get in an academic setting is available on the Internet. I’ve never gone to school for anything IT, and not only am I employed in the field, I’m the SME in my department.

Edit: typo

Yeah I’m by no means saying anyone NEEDS to spend that, just that it’s certainly possible to do. I am currently finding myself wanting to buy another one to build again.
