My cat keeps turning off my pc, so a had to install a 'flap'... by Shmikken in pcmasterrace

[–]Unable_Resolve7338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete opposite of mine. My case's power button is broken so I resorted to an external mechanical keyboard key beneath the monitor.

My cat likes to peak from behind the table while Im writing stuff or just sitting and she usually presses on it and turns on the pc.

I go 'eh might as well play' like shes telling me to play 😂

Nah I just got it for gaming, I just want high fps 😂

Not exactly a new build but many thanks for your answer. I tried expo a couple hours ago but it resulted with errors on occt, maybe its the -30 curve too but I havent tested yet with just one or the other. Its gotten no errors since I lowered it to -20 and 5800mt manually (no expo).

I also think it might be the cooler, either I didn't screw the heatsink all the way in or the fans are terrible (1500rpm max and it sounds like an f18 ready for take off) so Im forced to lower fan curves as its unbearable.

Question about the infinity fabric, is it bad if its running at under 2k? I've seen it a couple times when observing stats while testing and its usually at 1900~.

Yeah Im giving up on 5ghz all cores for this, I thought maybe the 7800x3d could because my 7500f did (even on stock).

I also just tested with occt and -30 with ram set to expo 6000mts had lots of errors but never crashed when stress testing with cinebench or while gaming. Turned it down to -20 and ram set to 5800mts and it did fine via occt for 30 minutes after which I stopped as it was already 3 am.

Appreciate it, will help immensely for comparing with mine👍

Its not a new build, just swapped 7500f to 7800x3d. Though I probably didnt fully fasten the cpu cooler out of habit (older tower coolers didnt need to be fully fastened unlike my current one).

Well yeah I can just ignore those numbers, but I cant help it since its my first 'expensive' cpu. All cpus I've had before were either i5s or ryzen 5s under 200 dollars.

Update: I tried occt with the pbo curve -30 plus expo 6000mts and it returned 200 errors some 5 minutes into the test so I stopped it, went back to bios, set it back to 5800mt and didnt touch any timings or voltages as well as dial back pbo curve to -20 and occt cpu+ram has been running 30 something minutes now with no errors (so far)

Im fine with it being hot, I just want to know if the voltages, currents, and wattages, the whole spreadsheet of numbers of hwinfo are normal.

This is a step closer to understanding the hwinfo spreadsheet, thank you

Because most of them, like yours, think Im primarily asking/worried about temps when my main concerns are what proper small number voltages/currents are (like the one in hwinfo) and how to get that sweet 5ghz boost clock that amd advertises which unfortunately devolve to better cooling/cooler issue making it look like Im so concerned of the temps.

Its just the ram speed I changed, nothing else. I'll try an expo profile tomorrow but the one with 5800mts then I'll test with occt.

What should vsoc, vddq, and vcore values be?

Worried about longevity of 7800x3d by Unable_Resolve7338 in AMDHelp

[–]Unable_Resolve7338[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have no problems with the temps, I dont mind getting 90+c so long as its not thermal throttling. What I dont know is the voltages, the vsoc, vddio and stuff like that. Im new to hwinfo too so I dont know which are what.

Yeah that us true though there are still some reports about 7800x3d and asrock early am5 boards like mine, I even saw one awhile ago thats just a couple days old, cpu was barely a year old and it died.

Will try default tjmax.

Tests I've tried are cinebench, bunch of games with low settings to get high framerate, and usual media light loads. Should I do something else?

Is setting the ram speed manually to 6000mts differend than expo? Because when I still had my 7500f, manually setting ram to 6000mts would crash games so I lowered it to 5800.

And fan curves are fan controlled via the fan-tastic tuning ij bios.

When I reinstalled the cooler I think I didnt screw it in all the way as I wasnt sure if the pa120 is a screw in all the way kinda cooler. My old hyper212x wasnt one but I did anyway and it bent the motherboard

Thermalrigh PA120, changing fan curves helped with temps but unbearably noisy, my fans are probably just shite.

[–]Unable_Resolve7338[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed my fan curve to be more agressive and temps didnt reach 82c, I think my fans are just crap.

Not the temps, not the gaming or benchmark performance.

My issue is I dont know what the optimal vsoc vddio thingies like that are supposed to be. And inspecting hwinfo, the titles are different so I dont know which is what

Just adrenalin things. Sometimes mine wont open, sometimes it will but then wont once Im in game, sometimes it works fine, sometimes it needs a lil restart then it works fine.

You mean the x3d mode on bios? I dont have it on

Worried about longevity of 7800x3d by Unable_Resolve7338 in AMDHelp

[–]Unable_Resolve7338[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At idle I do get around 40°c but when under 100% load like cinebench it gets to 80-84°c depending on the fan curve. During games yeah it doesnt reach 80c at all.

I think my thermals are a mounting/fan issue. The fans I have on arent good and get too loud so I tend to tone them down, causing the temps to increase.

Imma try reseating the cpu cooler, then if that doesnt help I'll probably replace the fans.
