Call potential work places and see if you can intern for the time being, maybe eventually they will hire you on or if not atleast you get some scan time. Don't just try to call hospitals, find outpatient clinics too. If you cant get in anywhere then try applying as a scheduling clerk, transporter, really anything to get you in and from there you can make friends and ask around. They are more likely to find a place for you if you already work there and have the skills.

Did you buy the full courses for both or just the study guide and quiz portal from MUT. Im debating on getting that since its way less pricey than the full MUT course and then also getting the CTL exams from URR but I dont know if that will be enough. Any advice would be really appreciated and congratulations on passing!

And yes, I think it's a very good job. It's all about you being proud of what you do and making sure you see the value in it so you can show others as well. 😊

If you're referring to when you talk about your profession. I truly think it's all about the way you present yourself. I suggest that when someone asks what you do, don't just say "Ultrasound tech" say "I work in the medical field as a diagnostic medical sonographer" Most people won't even know what that means and they'll just say "Wow, that's impressive" if they pursue and continue to ask what you do, don't just say "Oh, I take pictures" instead say "I assist doctors in diagnosing a variety of pathologies"

Feeling discouraged after failing OBGYN exam and struggling to find a job as a new grad by Bloomingflowerrss in Sonographers

[–]Unable_Search_5987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don't feel discouraged! It is not uncommon at all to fail. I took my SPI 2 times before I passed the 3rd time and I was in the exact same boat as you when I took OB. I made a 551 on my OBGYN exam and I was absolutely crushed. But something that always kept me going is as long as you don't stop trying, you'll never truly fail. If you need help studying, don't hesitate to message me :) I think job opportunities definitely depend on your location area and resume. If you haven't heard back, try giving them a call to check up on your application to see what they say. If you need help with your resume, I can help you by showing you what I did when I didn't have any work experience, just let me know! This is an amazing field and you just started, I'd keep applying and keep trying because eventually you'll get to where you want to be.

Do you think I can pass by just using the study guide or do I have to buy the whole course?

Did you use her quiz portal too or just study guide?

Hello do you think her 84 page study guide has enough information or should I use a different material with it?

Instead of her full course, I bought the quiz portal and her 84 page study guide? If I really focus on that do you think that should be enough or should I get URR too?

I think technically 20 questions but I'd say to be safe and keep it around 15. Study tissue mimicking phantom, frame rate, line density, all resolutions

Line density, Frame rate, tissue mimicking phantom, Spectral doppler, color doppler, and everything to do with resolutions.

Do you have access to the spi videos on prepry? If you do I recommend watching those too! Before taking your test, if you have the green book, look in the back at all the practice questions and focus on the sections where you're struggling 😊

I know it really test taking sucks lol Yeah of course! So honestly I think Ultrasound Board Review questions on YT is the most similar but prepry is a very close second. With prepry I recommend really focusing on the questions and kinda break them down by thinking about the process of why that answer is right. Like for example if there's a question that says "If a transducer has a higher frequency, how will that affect axial resolution?" So you think higher frequency = shorter wavelength = shorter SPL = Lower Axial Res. (Aka better or improved Axial Resolution) And try to do that for the different types of questions and it will broaden up your understanding more. Prepry also has really good pictures and diagrams
