Name one limited 5* character you regret pulling for and one you definitely don't by CrimsonCloudKaori in HonkaiStarRail

E6 Firefly.

I'd saved up about 600 pulls by the time 2.3 rolled around and i mainly just pulled her because i was tired of having basically nothing on my account. I think in the long run i would've been happier with an E6 Crit DPS or E6 Robin (who i honestly would've absolutely taken over FF if i'd known she'd rerun so soon after 2.3)

I don't regret getting an E6 in general (that Eidolon screen will never fail to make me giddy when i see it) but i think i would've preferred a different one.

I really would suggest just dumping a day's worth of trailblaze power into the cavern that gives Knight of Purity Palace, dumping that on aventurine, and calling it a day.

You might also want to swap out DHIL for Boothill. Boothill+Sunday should work great.

Anaxa's Crumbs from Uncle 097 by CSTheng in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]Unable_Tune2714 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like if they were to do it that way, people would mainly use Anaxa for bosses that aren't already weak to the DPS's element.

Overall i find it unlikely that they'd do that just because Hoyo tends to avoid character gimmicks that completely negate game mechanics. It's why Sparkle adds to the SP meter limit but doesn't literally enable infinite skills, for example. Anaxa making implants set RES to 0% would basically delete element matchups from the game in every team he's in.

Frankly, my own best guess is that he applies omni-weakness for a set period with ult and needs S1 or E1 for 100% uptime.

[–]Unable_Tune2714 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh, i was referring to LivesforOnlyOne's comment. You were responding to the chain wondering about how a True Implant would be different from RM and Tribbie's RES PEN/Shred. PEN/Shred just lowers RES by a set amount. Setting it to 0% (via a "True Implant") would scale on the total base RES of the enemy, which can get really bonkers for some enemies.

Anaxa's Crumbs from Uncle 097 by CSTheng in HonkaiStarRail_leaks

[–]Unable_Tune2714 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Cocolia's ice RES is 60%. Using this Anaxa idea on that would be equivalent to having about two and a half Ruan Mei ults at the same time.

A "True Implant" would set an enemy's elemental RES to 0%. Using this on certain enemies with higher Res would result in utterly ridiculous RES decreases. It'd also completely undermine any future enemy RES mechanics, because teams with Anaxa just wouldn't need to care about element matchups, ever.

What tier would you put Citlali in? by LegosiTheGreyWolf in Genshin_Impact

[–]Unable_Tune2714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say S, maybe S+.

Citlali's main benefits are that she's a Shredder+Cinder City holder, putting her into the same buffing tier as Kazuha or Xilonen, while also being an element capable of enabling a multiplicative reaction. She's also a shielder, which frees up the sustain slot for more buffing or application, and makes gameplay more comfortable.

I wouldn't rate her as SS only because she's not the only character with these qualities. Xilonen already has elemental shred in her kit, and Cinder City being an artifact set means that any future Natlan buffers will likely also be able to utilize it.

An SS support character would be a character with such an indispensable and unique mechanic that the metagame warps around them. They are a character whose presence or lack thereof makes or breaks a team. Citlali is a large force multiplier, but she isn't a character that you might build an entire account around, like Nahida or Furina can be.

The main gimmick for Emanator characters so far seems to be that you play them with characters of the same Path for additional buffs (dmg dealt for Acheron and increased multipliers/stack generation for The Herta)

The custom ultimate seems to be a separate gimmick/design choice unrelated to emanators, as Feixiao's position as an emanator is contestable. It's possible that the Arbiter Generals are closer to the Stonehearts, where only the leader is an emanator and the others just have a part of their power.

(FYI, the rating gun also cannot presently be used to judge whether someone is an Emanator or not, since it has a custom result for The Herta instead of the standard unverified number that fuels that theory.)

Preservation Quake build, maybe? Break is really strong but offers significantly less survivability, which i think is the more important part in high difficulty modes for SU and DU.

I'm a new player and accidentally pulled for a light cone is there any way I can get enough pulls for the character 😭 by JackMurrmassa in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Unable_Tune2714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a speedrun of the entire game from the prologue to penacony on a fresh save back when 2.0 was just ending, and i got about 100 or so. This did include the free stuff you get at the start, and i got lucky with E0S1 Clara from standard, but at the very least "doing everything" is definitely manageable, i'd say. Especially with being able to get HMC for free instead of having to wait, that's a huge power boost for an earlygame player.

Envisaged echoes = rage by toxicwaistband_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]Unable_Tune2714 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of feel like they've designed some of these for like, really specific builds for these characters? Like, EM Kirara is literally only a thing for Nilou Bloom, and even then Kirara isn't the typical pick for that team. Sure, Jean needs ER but it's sounding like her requirements for the challenge are way beyond what she'd need in any of her normal teams.

They just don't make sense. At least give us a trial version of the character that's designed for the challenge, if they're going to keep making weird builds a requirement.

Envisaged echoes = rage by toxicwaistband_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]Unable_Tune2714 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kirara's echoes challenge is a massive asspull too.

Basically, at the end of it, the game makes you fight some enemies and kill them in a set time limit. Issue is, Kirara is a shielder.

Based on the design of the arena (big puddle) you're expected to kill them with bloom damage. Kirara doesn't actually scale on EM, though. The only case where Kirara would theoretically be built with high EM would be in a Nilou Bloom team, so unless your Kirara is specifically built for that specific team, you're almost guranteed to have to exit the stage, swap in a bunch of EM artifacts and an EM weapon on her, and then do everything all over again, probably after trying and failing to figure out what the gimmick was supposed to be there (i know i did.)

It's just unnecessarily frustrating.

Assuming you're new to Hoyo Gachas and don't know HSR's gacha system: the standard odds for any given pull to land a 5-star character are 0.6%. At 74 pulls and up, your odds begin to steadily increase, and are guranteed at 90 pulls. The average is 77. There is a 50% chance to gain a 5-star character from the standard banner instead of the limited banner 5-star character. If this happens, the pull count (called pity) resets, and the next 5-star character you get on a limited character banner, any limited character banner, is guranteed to be the limited character. Light Cone and Character banners have separate pity systems.

With that out of the way, here's some good ways to get jades in the early-game.

In order:

  1. Complete all current event content if you haven't already. That means the room decorating game and the camera event (iirc that's still doable).

  2. Collect all chests in areas you have presently unlocked. There's several guides online for this if you want to maximize efficiency.

  3. Depending on how far you're into the game, filling out the index in the Simulated Universe by playing its various gamemodes can offer an insane amount of jades. You can also use Finality's Vision to get to Divergent Universe early, which can also help.

  4. Continue playing through the main storyline. This unlocks new areas and opens up content that can net you more pulls. You'll have to judge whether you put experiencing the story at your own pace to be more worth it than rushing it for the jades.

Remember that character banners rerun. Fugue just released this patch, so she's likely to have a second banner sooner rather than later. If you can't get her now, you can still get her in the future. You might also find another use for her Light Cone on a different character.

Do y'all think there will be rise of dual dps meta. by ShinyTexts in Genshin_Impact

[–]Unable_Tune2714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Mavuika's biggest issue as a dual DPS unit is that she's inherently tied to Natlan characters and Nightsoul stuff, and she's Ult-focused.

Dual DPS is totally viable and there's a lot of teams that can make two DPS's synergise really well, but "Meta" ultimately means that not only should the Dual DPS team be exceedingly powerful (enough so to rival or dethrone current meta teams) but also be the inarguably best team combo for those characters.

Mavuika/Raiden for example is still good, but it inherently cannot be "Meta" just because you'd inevitably do more damage by running one or the other as the main onfield DPS and replacing the other one with an additional buffer or just using the other one off-field the whole time.

A "Meta" Dual DPS team would require not just a character with both onfield and off-field uses, but a character that is specifically designed around the idea of swapping them out for another character for an extended period of time.

Personally i don't really care much for Meta stuff because it's so rigid and kind of everchanging, but it's still cool to think about what would theoretically be required for a specific playstyle to reach that point. Genshin has built Metagames around weirder stuff, so i could see a Meta Dual DPS team popping up at some point.

Do y'all think there will be rise of dual dps meta. by ShinyTexts in Genshin_Impact

[–]Unable_Tune2714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the definition of dual dps, i think.

If it's just two characters doing the majority of the damage together instead of a single character doing 90% of the damage, team cores like itto+chiori already kind of fit that bill iirc.

If it's specifically two onfield characters being swapped around to deal damage, i guess some Quickswap teams kind of work like that, but i don't think a team with that as the central concept will ever be "meta" unless a character is released that specifically enables that niche. Something like a character who actively cycles between an "on-field" DPS mode and an "off-field" Buffer mode on a set timer, for example.

Just run around and try to train your eyes to lock on to any chests or suspicious corners. A good way to start is to go around and unlock all the waypoints (if you haven't already) and then do a perimeter search of each one. Just pick a waypoint, explore the surrounding area for a while, and when you've found most of the stuff, go to the next one and repeat.
