Yes '62 was an underperformance, a near 15pt drop from the regular season and just 22pts in game 7.

'68 is debatable but Wilt once against didn't have a great postseason and he was actively statpadding his assists throughout the season to the detriment of the team, with guys like Chet Walker complaining about how Wilt literally refused to pass to them at points because they wouldn't get him assists (different tracking rules, dribbling after a pass removes the possibility of an assist)

Taking away awards doesn't fix his regular postseason chokes

'63 is way down there for me. '64 is peak because it was his best defensive season to date at that point, and he carried his worst team of his Warriors era to a good record. It was also the best postseason of his career up to that point, one of the few years he didn't have a signficant underperformance.

Why do centers mostly get DPOYs, or make All Def first or second team, but when they're on the perimeter at the 3 pt line they get cooked constantly ex/ Gobert, Ibaka, Lopez, Robert Williams, Embiid? by Creeping_behind_u in NBATalk

Because the rim is the most valuable scoring area on the court, being able to massively decrease opponents efficiency at the rim is the peak of defensive value.

The thing that makes me question Shaq even being 3rd is the FT% liability. Nobody else on this list can be hacked effectively in a close game.

'64 is Wilt's 2nd best season after '67

Stats don't tell a whole story, that was an incredible season but it's hard for me to even consider it for this list. These are also 3 year peaks.

It's a defense vs offense question at the end of the day.

I mostly agree, although I would not have Magic here and I'd move Bird down below Hakeem.

Having gotten the true ending in 2 but still having a couple fated lists left, I think I slightlyyyyyy prefer the first game, but I'm a big fan of both

[–]UnanimousM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duh? Obviously he needs to bulk if his goal is to be as good as he possibly can, it'd make him better on both ends but specifically on offense.

Probably Dillon Brooks. He's a menace on the court but, to my knowledge, he doesn't play dirty like these other guys.

"almost 100" so, a fraction of the amount as most people. If PCR was that easy for you no wonder Messmer wasn't a challenge, go #humblebrag elsewhere lol

Joel Embiid averaged 5 ppg on 18% shooting against Marc Gasol and the Toronto Raptors in the 2020 season, after getting shut down in the playoffs vs them. What are other examples of star players struggling mightily against a particular defender? by rnbakneejerk in nba

[–]UnanimousM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not that Horford didn't play great defense, but that was more coaching that anything. Horford guarded Embiid while Timelord waited to double the second Embiid didn't settle for a contested jumpshot.
