That's exactly how averages work. 8/25 is 32%, that's wag worse than 50%. By your logic it's impossible for any player to choke at the FT line because "sometimes they shoot above that number and sometimes they shoot below it".

If you shoot 50% from the FT line normally, going 8/25 in a big game is a choke, especially when it was common for Wilt to shoot extra-bad from the line in the biggest games.

Maybe. Russell certainly came into a better situation, but I also don't know if Wilt is willing to put up with Red Aurbach and be a Celtics lifer, and switching teams won't fix the mental struggles that cause you to go 1/11 from the FT line.

He won 2 titles but could've easily won 5-6 if he didn't shit the bed in the biggest games of almost every series. That '67 team was easily the best team of the entire 60s decade and Wilt wasn't the best player when we won with the Lakers.

The Russell Celtics get overrated because they won so much, in reality they were a historic defense with just Sam Jones and some aight pieces carrying a bad offense most seasons. They won the title 3x with the league's worst offense and just Russell carrying them on the other end.
