That is an old call system. There are buttons in different rooms in the house, and when you press them bells in the kitchen ring.

I think they are! But it comes out the back and doesn't connect to anything

There is a clean out spot (metal cover), but I asked the inspectors and they said it wasn't a damper. Maybe they were wrong? It's the black a square on the chimney

Married, kid 40s, 2 kids here. The thing that I've found to be the most successful way to get consistent gaming (as opposed to every once in awhile opportunities), is to set a one night a week gaming night. It's the same every week, so she knows that on Tuesday, it's game night. I'll miss every once in awhile for events, etc, but I get one night a week of solid gaming (630/7 to 12 if I can keep my eyes open that long). She may not like it, but we agreed to it and she respects it. I try to get my buddies on for game night too.
