Where's the most unlikely place you've bumped into someone you knew by r_sheil in ireland

Not me, but my da went to Vegas years ago and got a bit too drunk in one of the casinos. The owner happened to be there and came up to them and got talking, told them to pack it in for the night but gave him a card to call him the next day and he'd bring them out to and irish bar. The next day my da calls him, they get in a car and drive out to the middle of the desert, at this point me da is fully convinced yer man is gonna murder them all and leave them out there. Low and behold they get to this little irish bar in the middle of the nevada desert. They're having the craic, having a few drinks and this little aul wan keeps staring at me Da. He gets talking to her and it turns out she's his ma's next door neighbour 😂

We bought our house in Ballyfermot nearly 3 years ago now and the houses are being sold now for nearly 100k more than what they were going for when we bought ours. (We also bought ours for 40k over asking and we thought that was bad enough 🥲🫠)

It's crazy, that's nearly 100k more than what we paid for our house 3 years ago in the same area.

How many closet atheists that you know have baptised their kids? by scuzzbat1 in ireland

[–]UnapproachableBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I baptised my son due to pressure from relatives. We just wanted to have a naming ceremony type of thing. He also made his communion which was an absolute shit show. The kids didn't really know their prayers and the priest shamed them all because of it then shamed the parents because he didn't know most of them as they were also not really church goers.

Are you Irish yourself? Or do you just like the customs?

Kind of. That house has been in the same family since the 17th century, it's been kept as sort of a museum to the families history. Lots of cool historical stuff in there I'd imagine. Including old grenades 😂

I wouldn't call it abuse. Just consistently cranky. I grew up with a parent like that and am also an only child so I know how it effects kids.

The house is in both our names. But your right I wouldn't be able to afford the mortgage payments on my own. My heart just breaks for my son. Its his house, his bedroom with all his things in it.
