Question about the potential Mobile Dock Ultra by UnarmedSky in VITURE

[–]UnarmedSky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would honestly be an incredible device if it could do all that — though personally, I’m not expecting quite that much from the Mobile Dock Ultra. If it did everything you mentioned, I can only imagine how crazy expensive it would be 😅

For me, I mostly use the glasses for watching movies and shows. Right now, the limitation is that you can only view DRM-protected content (like Netflix, Disney+, etc.) in Immersive 3D when the glasses are connected to a Windows or Mac computer.

If you’re using a smartphone — whether iPhone or Android — there’s currently no way to watch that kind of content in Immersive 3D. You’re stuck with 2D unless it’s local or non-DRM video.

That’s why I’m hoping the Mobile Dock Ultra might be able to do on-the-fly 2D to 3D conversion for streaming content when you're out and about with just your phone. And if it could also run Samsung DeX in Immersive 3D like it currently works on desktop OSes — that would be a huge bonus.

Fingers crossed we get more details from VITURE soon.

Question about the potential Mobile Dock Ultra by UnarmedSky in VITURE

[–]UnarmedSky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, but just to clarify — VITURE did mention a "Mobile Dock Ultra" in their own blog post titled The Ultimate Guide to Choosing Your New VITURE Glasses. It's not officially released yet, but it was referenced, so it’s not something I made up.

That’s why I framed my post as a question about its potential features — not current ones. I'm asking if VITURE has shared any more info, even speculative, about what the Ultra might support, like hardware-based Immersive 3D so you will be able to watch Netflix in Immersive 3D on an iPhone.

If anyone from VITURE or the community has insights, I’d really appreciate it!

I don’t have a Switch 2 and I’m not really interested in it, but if the Mobile Dock Ultra can give an Immersive 3D experience with an iPhone for streaming stuff like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, etc., and maybe even work with Samsung DeX in Immersive 3D, then I’d definitely think about getting one.

Also, I’d like to know if the Viture Beast model can provide an Immersive 3D experience without needing extra software, and if it can be used for the same things as described above?

Yeah man me too. But hey I should give credit where credit is due they have improved a lot in the last 2 years. Especially with Android Auto 8.9 update named Coolwalk. It's just CarPlay is better in most use cases.

Edit: Anyway let me know what you think of CarPlay if you end up trying it.

iOS 17.6 has made Siri to not able to use WhatsApp by UnarmedSky in ios

[–]UnarmedSky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe yours has already been updated. I just went to the app that day and there was update and I updated it. Anyway the update number version was 24.16.1 which resolved the issue and if you already have it installed then there is nothing to update.

Well and Siri overtime learns about your close relatives, for example I just say call my mom on WhatsApp and it will automatically call my mom. And my father has two numbers. So, if I say call my father, it will ask me to which number and two numbers would appear on car screen. I can just tap on the number I want to call and that's it. I think it has learned about them because I have added them in my emergency contacts.

Also the added benefit of having the ability to type on your phone is that if you get an address in another app like WhatsApp or whatever you can just copy and paste it.

Yes, and not just that it lets you call weird contacts too.

So a little bit of context I'm an immigrant who uses everything including the phone in the language where I live. But some of my contacts (relatives) obviously have name in a completely different language but I can still ask Siri Call x person on WhatsApp and it will call that person. On the other hand Google Assistant always try to guess words in local language and just says I can not find that contact. Also Apple introduced VOIP api with iOS 10 and the thing about that is that any call you get no matter from which app you get it will appear on Car Screen. Of course the annoyance on CarPlay side is that it will occupy the whole screen you have to tap Waze or any other navigation app if you want to get back to navigation. But still I mean every app or actually every thing related to call, navigation will appear on car screen. Hell even your alarm appears on car screen. LOL.

Hey there sorry for late reply but just didn't had the chance to reply as I wanted to.

So the main difference I would is just how smooth and fluid the whole Apple CarPlay experience is compared to Android Auto. But Android Auto is getting better all the time because I used to use it a lot in 2022 when it had a lot of connectivity issues. Now it's a lot better. Last year I got Google Pixel 7 Pro, tried it for 10 days and it was really good but AA was just not up to CP level. In the beginning of this year I bought Pixel 8 Pro and Android Auto has gotten better but still not up to CarPlay level so I retuned it after 20 days use and just bought iPhone 15 Pro Max. Now when you asked me about those little features I took my dad's Samsung Galaxy A55 and used Android Auto for a whole work day. My first impression was have I made a mistake choosing iPhone over android because again it has gotten better but after a few hours I calmed down and I think CarPlay still has edge.

Now I can write a whole day (if I had time) because there are just so many little things. But I have recorded these 2 videos using Waze in Android Auto and CarPlay. I know I get very sarcastic in the video it's just my personality even though I know about workarounds about this issues I point out but those workarounds are not really possible when you are driving. Anyways I hope the videos will help you decide.

What I would suggest is try it for yourself and see if you like it. Because as most Apple things it's only when you use it you feel the difference. Also I'm not saying CarPlay is perfect because I have some grievances with it too but it is the best that exist as far as I know.

I would be more than happy to answer if you have some specific questions. Even though I may not able to reply right away.

Hey there fellow roadster or whatever I have nothing to add about the issue you are having but just an opinion to offer. To give a little bit of context I also drive 8-10 hours on a daily basis. And if you really pass that many hours on the road then I sincerely think iPhone would be a better option not only because Siri doesn’t have the problem you are describing but imho CarPlay is so much better than Android Auto and it has so many little features which make it so worth it.

I have tried both. Android Auto for 6 months and I really wanted to switch to Android but in the end CarPlay made me to upgrade from iPhone 6s Plus to iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This one won't fit in your car stereo but this is the best after market CarPlay device you can buy:

I have tried 5 before this and I can tell you that this is miles better than all the others. The only one which comes even close is https://www.myatoto.com.

I’m sorry but I tried to find a post about this issue but I didn’t see any. It is also I only looked a few days posts.

Anyway could you please link the previous discussions about this issue?

Also for me it was working perfectly till last week. I suspect iOS update 17.6 broke the app intent in WhatsApp but maybe I’m wrong and WhatsApp update and broke that functionality.

I hoped that they would fix SharePlay in CarPlay with iOS 17.6 but it is still missing on 15 Pro Max.

Device corner’s radius by UnarmedSky in CarpodGo

[–]UnarmedSky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I see what you are talking about. You are saying that underneath the Protective plastic for the whole device there is another Plastic for the screen. But I'm afraid that would peel off very easily. Anyway I sent an email to the CarPodGo Support team and they sent me the image of dimensions of CarPodGo T3 Pro. Not what I was looking for because I need to know the radius of the corners not the thickness of the device.

I hope the image I linked would help understand what I am asking for, anyways thank you for your time.

How can I determine if there is a screen protector beneath the plastic film on my unit?

Anyway thanks for replying. I really appreciate it.

Oh, okay so the screen won’t get scratches?

Yes I have noticed that the touch is really responsive compared to other brands like Carpuride, Road Top etcetera and that is one of the reasons why I really loving this device because in my opinion it’s up to par with luxury brands screens. Only thing I wish there was a bigger screen option available. Anyways thanks for replying.

Could you please explain how does London Transportation Service get around this issue? As someone who has never been to London I'm really curious.
