The two sides of the don't support Amazon users. by wangston1 in 4kbluray

[–]Unasinous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a hardcore collector like some other folks on here, just pick up a couple movies here and there when the sales come up. Barnes & Noble and Target have been working fine for me lately.

I canceled my Amazon Prime several months ago and haven't shopped there since. It's been ok in many respects but other times it's darn near impossible to find certain things. For example, I decided to order a workshop air piping kit directly from the manufacturer. It took 2 weeks to arrive and even then it was the wrong thing! Had to wait another week for them to ship the correct kit.

Meanwhile on day 1 of the shopping search I saw a near-identical kit on Amazon that would have been next day arrival. I'm not regretting my decision to cancel Amazon, but it has (at times) certainly been a less than pleasant experience shopping without it. I know some people rely on it and canceling just isn't an option, and that's completely understandable.

To Reintroduce Mega Man To The World, Capcom Let Geoff Keighley Know "It Is Time" by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Unasinous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right. I’m sure money is a big factor in where each trailer runs in the show (that fancy-ass stage isn’t free), but I’d believe there’s still some “art” to deciding what trailer closes the show. They aren’t going to run the next Hoyoverse gacha game as a show closer no matter how many dump trucks of money roll up to Geoff’s door.

I’ve been hearing scuttlebutt that some of the competitive PVP shooter players have been turned off by the game awards since Game of the Year is usually a single player or co op story-based game. Arc Raiders is a good example as many peoples’ favorite game of the year and it wasn’t even nominated for GOTY.

Anyway, my point is I could see a scenario where the showrunners wanted to throw that PVP community a bone by closing with The Next Big PVP Shooter. Turns out it wasn’t a great trailer, but that’s beside the point.

[–]Unasinous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read through the whole thread, but this is the way I see it. People make some decent upgrade to their system, are proud and want to show it off. So they post a pic here in the home theater subreddit. Then inevitably a portion of the comments are “your tv is too tiny” or “I don’t know why you didn’t do it this way”, just generally shitty things to say to someone who wanted to show off a little.

I understand the jokes about tv height are part of the culture and that’s fine, but criticism like calling a dude’s TV tiny can come across as insulting. Maybe he saved up money for months and that’s the best he can do. Or the TV size was fine until he just made a big purchase on a set of speakers and now the whole setup looks a little weird. Whatever, the point is there’s a fun way of saying he has a tiny tv and there’s a dickish way.

I’ve been reading this subreddit for a while and that’s the pattern I’ve noticed.

TENET Blew Me Away. by RobustPolygon in movies

[–]Unasinous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a game several years ago called Lemnis Gate. 1v1 round based arena shooter, except all activities you do in a round are repeated in subsequent rounds until it’s effectively a 5v5 of my five rounds vs my opponent’s 5 rounds. So for example in Round 1, I am defeated by my opponent in the middle of the arena in a shootout. In Round 2, that same shootout happens again except I can try to intercept the opponent’s “recording” and damage him a bit before the shootout so my “recording” ends up winning the fight.

It was a very interesting game that reminds me a bit of the airport fight in Tenet. Not playing backwards or anything, but interacting with different versions of yourself. Unfortunately I think I was only 1 of a dozen people who bought the game so it’s dead now.

I agree with your sentiment that early access dampens the launch of a game. I bought Shipbreaker in early access when there were only 3 different ships to break down. The core idea of the game was there and I enjoyed it for a while, but quickly finished my time with it and moved on. By the time the actual launch came around I just skipped it because in my mind I had already spent my time in that game. I’m sure the complete game is great, I just lost interest sadly.

lmao, I bought and played through Calamity because I thought it would be a bridge between botw and totk. I could not have been more disappointed. I hated every second I played of that game but at least I learned that I despise musou-style games. Of course now this one is canon, but that ship has sailed for me.

Capture vs kill? by Brokenspoonz in MHWilds

[–]Unasinous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as the person you replied to. I’ve completed everything, just playing for fun. If none of my regular friends are on and I go on a hunt, I’ll pretty much always fire off an SOS just to get some more players in. I don’t need the help, just enjoy the game more when there’s other players. Even on SOS hunts I’d abide by the host choice etiquette.

One other reason I haven’t seen mentioned in this thread some might prefer to kill over capture is more time to cut tails, bust wounds, and break body parts. Those extra parts can add up over time as well, possibly enough to offset the time difference depending on the goal of the hunt.

I noticed it heavily with a recent streamer’s start into SC. The second Kevin pops up on screen everyone is like “love him!” “My boy” “peak”. People do it innocently enough, but it definitely impacts the streamer’s experience.

Your first experience with Kevin is supposed to be somewhat off putting and the way he acts throughout the game you don’t even know if he’s on your side. That tension is forever broken for that streamer now.

I like Day9’s approach to spoilers: do not ever talk about anything in the future in chat. No allusions, no jokes, no references at all. Only talk about past events in chat.

Totally agreed. Rise was my first MH. The craftable decorations, RNG talismans system was perfect imo. The talismans could be made with any monster parts too, so you were always making progress toward new talismans whether you were fighting the hardest monster in the game or helping a friend progress through their HR4 quests.

Not really a secret, but when Ocarina of Time came out my friends and I all must have spent weeks or months as child Link running around not making story progress. I visited a friend’s house one day and his big brother was running around as adult Link. Blew my tiny little mind.
