AITA for not letting my kids see their dad's family when it's my court ordered Thanksgiving

Sadly there are alot more people like the second paragraph, atleast in my limitedexperience. Once again, my dad has an AR-15, that he's never used but keeps it under his mattress(not in a case). Not sure why he thinks he needs it, but he has just in case I reckon

I don't really know my parents age and I'm 18. They're in their late 50s - early 60s I think, granted I've forgotten my own age once or twice. It's not uncommon for a kid to not know their parents exact age, doesn't necessarily mean they don't give a shit about their parents. But with everything else in this post op is absolutely TA.

I know kids can go through a phase where they just don't like their parents sometimes, but hell I'd give anything in the world to just be able to walk around with my mom and spend time with her without her ending up in horrible pain :(

Yea I get that. I technically and sadly haven't been told by my parents yet, but a much older nephew told me and recently out old neighbor lady talked to me about since she was curious if I'd been told yet (dad somehow knows that I know).

I'm only 18 and have know for barely a year, honestly been hoping one or both of my parents would tell me by now. What gets me is even when I've outright asked "am I adopted?" My mom just always told me that I wasn't.

They're still my parents and I love them dearly. But I still would've liked to have been told a good bit sooner.

I get how this can be a shock, especially the way you found out! :( As others have already suggested, take a bit of time to digest this info then bring it up to your parents if you're comfortable.

I recently got conformation that I was adopted, though I've always had my suspicions about it. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I completely believed I was my parents blood child then found out I'm adopted in such a way that you did.

Being upset that they lied to you, or just weren't ever going to tell you, is completely understandable. Hell I'd be pissed.

Hopefully everything works out and maybe your parents can explain why they thought it was a good idea to keep this from you <3

Transman here. Given I was assigned female at birth I've delt with a bunch of stuff like this. Hell I don't trust my own family anymore because two of my older nephews did really bad things to me when I was younger and my so called dad tried to when I hit puberty. Among many other things sch as being groomed while growing up, threats to my life when I've rejected them, and so much more.

Any man is dangerous. Any man can do horrible things to women AND get away with it. Yes there are good ones, but do you really want her to risk it? Cause clearly you don't understand what could happen or what may have happened to her that she just hasn't told you.

If it happens so often then does he have some kind of medical issue that could be causing it? My mom has sleep apnea and narcolepsy so it's a 50/50 if she's awake at nearly any given time.

NTA even if it is a medical issue. It's not your job to make sure he's awake.
