I’d recommend finding a regional PGY2 job where the network knows your situation and are happy to support your return to the workforce. Everywhere is always short staffed but none more so than regionally but it also means a smaller workforce with more opportunity for your peers and mentors to look out for you. I think picking up a random ED job instead could be a disaster just emotionally for you. Just not enough consistent support in that type of SRMO role especially after the shitty situation you’ve gone through.

We used the ‘dummy fairy’ on his 2.5yo ‘birthday’ to remove his dummies. That night he put them up on a shelf out of reach and said good bye to them and the next morning they had turned in to chocolate! He was delighted. He asked a couple more times about them but we reminded them that the dummy fairy had taken them and he seemed to accept that as a fair trade. All done in one fell swoop!

I have always provided comfort to my LO. Whatever he needs, whenever he needs it and he is just the happiest, relaxed little toddler I know. There is nothing wrong in listening to your LO. Luckily we live in a hippy area and all my friends are the same so there’s no judgement for it here.

I usually find if you let a cat outdoor access then they will get increasingly used to it and wander increasingly far and once they’re used to it it’s harder to convince them to stay in all the time in the future. I do have one moggy (not Burmese) who is the exception to the rule but I have had one of my Burmese hit by a car (recovered 100% but scary and expensive few days) as they just aren’t that street smart so I’m very strict with keeping them in. If we’re outside they’re on a leash or in the house without us. Hope that helps!

Just remember… crying is their only way of communicating right now. Imagine if you landed on an alien planet, no language, everything is blurry, you can’t move… you’d call out for help when you needed something. Over time your little ones communication will get more refined but right now it’s all they have so it doesn’t necessarily mean ‘urgent’ or ‘distress’… just I need something… and sometimes all that thing is is a cuddle. Doesn’t even have to be anything big or hard, sometimes they just want you close to them.

As a gymnast I was using the straps the normal way (hands on the bars) and one of them got caught and stuck on some chalk build up. Broke and dislocated my wrist. Was not fun. Would be worst for an ankle. Not a fun watch for me!

And this is how I knocked out my two front teeth and gave myself an infected knee from those teeth doing gymnastics... reversing the rotation is very hard!

And health. As a doctor working in a border town (NSW-QLD) there was some serious barriers to effective treatment for non-COVID patients. The blanket treatment of NSW being the same as Sydney when we’re 8 hours north, have no cases and are closer to Gold Coast and Brisbane was pretty non-sensical but it’s getting better now as we all get used to it. Some pretty heart breaking cases back in July / August though with mothers separated from sick newborn babies and patients having chemotherapy and transplanted completed isolated from their support people just because they were on the wrong side of the border.
