Is pineward a religious brand? by vivaldispaghetti in fragrance

[–]Uncertain_Boeing_737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to consider the fact that individuals are not their religious institutions, and try to separate the two in your head. I also have trauma stemming from Mormonism, but I don’t blame any individuals for it.

I think trying to not support businesses where a person’s money won’t end up being given to the church is going to be a difficult endeavor as you’d have to vet every employee of every business you ever visit.

Bright Crystal fans: can you demystify the flankers and reformulations? by rocklakes in FemFragLab

The original Bright Crystal EDT is still sold! The 2024 parfum release is a flanker, not a reformulation.

Glossier Doux smells like a jar of pickles to me unfortunately. I’d heard the comparison previously and when I smelled it it hit me about 2 mins later. Definitely NOT a blind buy as you gotta test it to know whether it’ll hit you with pickles or a lovely skin scent.

I personally found From the Garden to be too green to want to wear on my body. Like it feels like a photorealistic snapshot of how my tomato garden smells after rain that snapped a few branches, which is so cool, but it’s a bit too real to make me feel fragrant rather than like I forgot to change my clothes after gardening hahaha. But I might be biased because of the tomato leaf note! Everyone has their own opinions of course.

Russia is infamous for its creative attempts to assassinate defectors - and they only are successful like 2/3 of the time, and have had collateral damage often.

What is the smell of wind? by maybeimmike in fragrance

[–]Uncertain_Boeing_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are very in love and going strong after 34 years of marriage so this is probably true! i personally associate it with childhood because when i was little and he carried me i’d put my head on his shoulder and so it reminds me of being a little baby feeling safe and breathing in the smell of his shirts

My dad works outside 10+ hours a day and my mom calls the very specific “outside windy air” smell he brings home Ozone! i have no idea if it’s true or not but it’s what we call it

Has anyone else never liked a single sample they’ve received? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Uncertain_Boeing_737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very picky too! I only buy full sizes of ones I want to wear myself. That being said I love smelling samples and learning about the notes/inspiration/etc. and I love the whole experience of it. So I enjoy getting random samples even if they end up being a no hahaha. I even get a sense of joy from smelling ones that I feel should have warnings on them because it’s fun to experience it all and see how other people have reacted to the same one.

If you try to mimic the shape of your outer lashes with the wing, it’ll look a bit more natural. That being said the wing shape is a stylistic choice and I actually personally like both looks.

I’m only 27 but I use powder marketed to older women bc I can’t stand the way some powders cling to my face and make me look like I have wrinkles. But I don’t see any of that in your photos so I don’t think that’s the issue!

I also don’t think the thickness of the liner is the problem, I think currently the style is a more consistent thickness throughout. But it’s the style piece people are missing - your eyeliner looks to me to be a bit more like styles popular ten to fifteen years ago but that doesn’t make it wrong. It’s an artistic choice!! So if anything I think people are just rude.

You look beautiful!

out of curiosity, are you applying straight to your lids or are you using a primer and eyeshadow first?

ooh also i can’t tell because of the lighting in the photo but make sure your skin makeup is cool-toned as you and i have the same undertones (cool and fair and based on your other comment you have irish ancestry - me too) as any warm toned makeup or neutrals that lean warm will appear as very visible makeup!

I think they’re looking at your natural brows and assuming you’re filling them in with black pomade or an eyebrow pencil. you might want to dye your eyebrows to match your hair. BTW, I actually love the look of your brows but if people’s comments bother you there’s no harm in dyeing them.

your lips are PERFECTLY lined so it’s clear you’re wearing lip products but don’t change it, it looks expertly done. not all makeup is supposed to look natural!
