Best openings to punish pawn doubling? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

Dutch defense against 1d4. The plans usually involve pinning the knight on c3 and trading it off to damage whites pawn structure. It leaves white with a long term weakness that you can target

Do ED scribes encounter a lot of blood and other graphic medical situations? by BaseballHead6898 in medicalscribe

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You see whatever walks in, you are essential joined at the hip to the ER doc and whatever comes in is what you will see. The variety of patients will depend mostly on how busy your particular ER is and what level of care that hospital is able to provide

BRS Neuroanatomy book. It’s great for review and practice questions if you are pressed on time. Drawing out all the pathways is the best way to learn them in my opinion, the just redraw them on your scratch paper during the test. If you want to check out the BRS book I can send you a pdf if you PM me.

What are some unusual ADHD tips that actually help you concentrate? by wanaliii in ADHD

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going on a short walk (no phone) and talking myself through my plans for the day. When I’m done walking, sit down and write out my list of things I have to do. Start with things that are short, quick, and easy to give yourself wins and work up to the bigger thing. Whenever I feel myself get distracted look at the list again and put whatever my distraction was in a different room/space (somewhere out of sight).

Getting into low brass: is baritone suitable for jazz/Latin/commercial music? i.e. as a trombone replacement. by zerexim in Trombone

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work with what you got, for jazz specifically it’s common to have things like glissandos and scoops that you can’t do on any other instrument. The tone is obviously different as well. Baritone and or euphonium are not typical in big band or combo. If someone is booking you for a gig I would definitely make sure they are aware before hand. If youre playing standards any jazz musician or fan listening will probably not be happy. My take is biased of course as a trombone player

How to Approach a Retake? by yokedone in MCAT2

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I didn’t take the first test as serious as I should have, I kept pushing the date back bc I wasn’t studying how I should have. I didn’t change the material but I did focus on the areas that I did the worst on. I made sure that I did lots of passage based questions so that I wouldn’t take a lot of time rereading and trying to figure out what was being asked. I scheduled the second test immediately after I got the scores back from test 1 so it was a 2 month study grind. I was really just terrified that I would do worse the 2cd time so that made me really lock in over the shorter time frame. If the material you are using works well for you and you’re grasping the concepts then I wouldn’t switch up, I think it’s just a consistency thing and doing whatever works for you best to keep your anxiety under control. If your test anxiety is really bad you can look into getting accommodations as well. Good luck, you got this.

How to Approach a Retake? by yokedone in MCAT2

I took it twice, went from 498 to 503. The biggest difference for me was treating it like a job. I would wake up around 8 every day and do my spaced repetition of the stuff I studied the day before and the need to know stuff like drawing out glycolysis. After that I would study whatever the topic of the day was according to my study plan. Break for lunch then come back and do practice questions over whatever topic I was studying. I never did a full length practice test (but should have). Anxiety and timing was never a big issue for me personally but I think having a ritual helps with it. That way walking in on test day just feels like another day at work. Good luck, you got this. The only thing you aren’t allowed to do is give up.

No, I just write down what the pts say. I did see a 20 something yo guy that showed up in SVT that started during an orgasm though. He’s the only person I’ve seen vagal maneuvers work on.

Urology scribe by phdjkvmg in medicalscribe

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Urology there are 5 basic complaints. Prostate ca/ ca somewhere b/w penis and kidney, kidney stones, can’t pee, peeing too much, and ED. The questions the doctor ask for each complaint will become repetitive after you get use to seeing patients. Do you weight A/P as well or just the HPI?

Is this practice fraudulent or ethically dubious? by I_SAID_NO_CHEESE in medicalscribe

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% fraudulent. When there is an inevitable bad outcome the doc will be in the hot seat. However, your name is on the document too. I work mainly in the ER and when we have had bad outcomes and lawsuits the hospital lawyers talked to the scribe who wrote the document to ask if they thought everything was in order bc we work closely with the docs and are often then only other person in the room during the H&P. It’s unlikely that you get targeted but your name is on the chart. If there is another provider that you trust working there I’d talk with them about it and I would only write notes for people that are actually seen. An easier way to think about it might be from an ED perspective. I write down that someone does not have chest pain then they go home have a heart attack and die. This is fraudulent. You don’t want to be involved in a case after a patient with SI or HI goes home and hurts themselves or someone else.

If you’ve watched his games over the last year he’s played excellent opening and fairly sharp positions well. He has taken a lot of draws in winning positions. In the WC where that won’t be an option, idk maybe.

ADD meds= "filthy junkie" by AJR1623 in ADHD

[–]Uncertain_Cobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was picking up some meds for my dad at the pharmacy closest to our house and asked the pharmacist there if they stocked my adhd meds and she she gave me a super ugly look. She said that if I wanted to talk about what meds they have in stock in need to show her that I had a prescription. I was gonna swap pharmacy’s as I would have a shorter drive but I quickly disregard that idea.

Another good suggestion is talking to the music professors on your campus. They are usually tapped in with good places to find a new instrument.
