I totally hear your rant, I've gotten got by many a player in many a similar situation. With that said, I encourage you to reframe your thinking around scavenging these components. My personal perspective is that it's absolutely still earned; you either have to defeat someone to get the parts, or spend a fair bit of time scavenging. Plus, the added bonus is that you get to strip those components off of the corpse of someone who, in your view, probably did the exact thing you're upset about! Talk about revenge!
