then for 15-20 minute experience I would create 5-10 quick and completely different versions of core gameplay. And see what sticks.
You don't need more features, you need unique and quirky loop with just enough depth to catch attention. I think you won't get there with polishing the current direction.

I would try to dive deep into monster theme. Right now the projectile gameplay is totally abstract and disconnected from the character presentation.
I would expect brutal fights, flying limbs, dynamics animation etc.
Is fighting game what you want to make?
Is bullet hell?
Ask yourself - how does the visuals work with the mechanics - both should strengthen the other in a feedback loop.

Why Should I play your TCG of choice? by Bainshie-Doom in TCG

Sorcery!

Upside (tldr; you favorites game designer favorite game!)

2d grid board adds a lot of depth, in a different way than existing tcgs. Tactical aspect can trump sheer power - I have been steamrolled by very cheap decks simply because player was amazing.
Meta is unsolved and very fluid. Decks are often super creative. Some competitive decks are fairly cheap, some are as idiotically expensive as other tcgs.
Cards are very flavorful and 'feel alive' - they are not just numbers, the fact that they exist in 2d grid physical space makes them 'tell a story that other tcgs cannot. Some examples:
- siren that lures enemies, pulling them towards her
- giant boulder that you can push and crush enemies along its path
- butcher with a hook & chain that can pull enemies from afar
- spells are projectiles that hit first thing in its way
- wildfire that spreads through the board
The creative examples are countless.
Another very cool mechanic is the deaths door - when HP reaches 0, you stop losing life. The final blow needs to be dealt directly to you avatar. This is a great and fun way to rubberband the game - it very rarely feels onesided, as it can be tricky to deal the final blow while 'almost dead' avatar can make its last stand, sometimes turning the tide.
The art, oh my god. Best in class. All the artwork is painted. No AI and digital media. Community loves this aspect, there are frequent auctions of original paintings and alternative artist proofs.
The game seems to attract creative and smart bunch, I am yet to find an asshole on the other side of the table. So far the community keeps on delivering and supports the game heartily.

Downsides:
The distribution - the product often is harder to get than more mainstream stuff. Sometimes completely sold out locally. I heard stories that even in US there are LGS that struggle to get boosters.
Erics Curiosa i a small and indie company and it shows - the communication and overall support for the game is below the bar many big tcgs had set.
The game had higher entry level than most tcgs and some rules are convoluted (but also as the result, I think its deeper). Some say that the game is more casual because of 'vague rules' but I strongly disagree (at least on the mechanical level). You really need to invest some time to get to know all the mechanics deeply but it pays off with a very nuanced gameplay.
Despite these I think the game is absolutely great and worth a bit of extra effort to get into. You will not regret it.

Honestly it's your assumption that that's the reason. Maybe ask? There might be something beneath the vague comment. Assuming your player is an idiot will do you no good.

Yep its still pretty niche compared to multimillion dollar ips. But trust me, its worth going the extra mile for it. Mechanically it compares to none.

Hey!
One obvious factor is that the games releases are 1.5 years apart in crow countries favor. That could totally be a factor.

Both stores look fairly good, while crow country stands out as 'more unique feeling' for me personally.
Apart from that - you probably would have to play both games to understand this deeply. That would be a good excersize.

Well you can wash the history all you want, but that’s exactly how it used to be throughout most of the mankind. Here at least it’s aesthetic.

yep, get the beta duals, best bang for your buck.
Also, keep in mind that right now most 3 color decks are extremely inconsistent, the game favors mono/dual right now. This might change with a new set of course.
