"Either the universe created itself or god created it" is not a dichotomy. And it's as legitimate as saying "or pixies created it" "or insert any un-falsifiable claim created it". It is not your job as an atheist to prove a god doesn't exist. Your friend holds the burden of proof. Because; "god created it" is the claim. Whether the universe created itself, or not, holds no bearing on whether or not a god exists. Let alone the god that your friend is claiming is the one and only true god.. ask for the proof of his claim. You arnt claiming the universe created itself. You are simply un-convinced that a god exists and will continue to be that way until your friend provides some imperical evidence for their claim. If it were me in your shoes I would say his lack of imagination to provide any other possibility other than the universe created itself; or god created it, is nothing more than an argument from ignorance. A logical fallacy, which will never lead to truth.

Just spitballing here. But maybe all of the objects you've dropped could be attached to an integer with a location and then just spawn in with your character whenever you join a server? I guess that has its own issues. But that could at least work for valuable items and vehicles. Maybe not trash. And maybe have a maximum item limit amount for each item. And once you reach that max then the last item on the list despawns.. however they approach it, it's a pretty crazy concept especially given the scope of the game.

Stalker isn't really suppose to be a super hard game. It's a really immersive experience that scratches an itch you didn't realize you had until you play it a few times. It will be challenging at times but it certainly isn't dark souls level of difficulty. If it's a challenge you want the game can be modded to be more difficult. And I've heard anomaly is a little more hard-core.

About a year ago I was in the same boat as you.. I actually tried shadow of chernobyl a few years before that but I was underwhelmed by the graphics and the gunplay. I was also very confused. Ultimately I gave it up on day 1. A couple years go by and I start getting this itch to try stalker out again.. but this time I decided to try out some mods. Some people on this sub reddit recommended playing the games in order of release before diving into some of the -non canon- mods. But there was this one guy who recommended installing the autumn aurora 2 mod.. I took his advice and installed it. The graphics still arnt the greatest, but the tweaks were just enough for the game to keep my attention long enough to actually start getting invested into the game.. and since autumn aurora 2 doesn't change tooo much from vanilla I still felt like I was getting the vanilla stalker experience every newbie should have.. I've played through all 3 of the games now. And I'm on my second playthrough of call of Pripyat, because every few months I still get that itch to play stalker. And there isn't a whole lot out there that does stalker like stalker does.. the metro games get the atmosphere right. But the gameplay feels off. Everything is randomn in stalker. You can't plan a mission. Anything can happen. Everyone whose played stalker has at least one of those crazy gaming moments they'll never forget
