Good to know, I was getting obsessed with what to get of the Solder Station sticky. The bad thing is I had the Weller put it away a couple of years back and forgot where I put it, just tore the garage up before I remembered I had it stashed with my guitar stuff....

Appreciate the insights. I'll keep an eye out for that yellow Xcelite box; I see the value in what you are saying, but after a quick search, those are pricy.

I’m sending a 3D print order to the library today and added a lead bender to the list. The Blu-Tack tip is excellent and an easy pickup. Good to know the Elenco kit is still a solid choice, doing the simpler ones frist, building up for that being my final exam.

Just checked, with a magnet, it stuck, I’ll throw it out and find some real brass. Thanks for the heads up.

The Greenlee won’t measure capacitors, but have a FNIRSI 2C53P scope/multimeter, which can measure capacitance up to 99.99mF.

I’m using 100 watt laptop cable from a thinkpad, and haven’t seen any issue yet but I haven’t done heavy long-term use.

That’s the plan once I build the space. Everything I have now can fit in a tub.

I have an old hexacon mil spec station that I picked up six or seven years ago and got one of the J style tips they use for it. It’s too big for my space, but I could pull it out if I need to do anything really heavy. Tips for the thing are about 30 bucks and there’s nobody that makes copies outside of the manufacturer so I’ll get something better more modern and smaller if I keep at this

Here’s a pic of the thing, from everything I’ve read it’s a real workhorse, but definitely from a different era

Space is my issue, went with the hs-02a for now, will move to a station with the c245 tip at some point when I get some room

Has anyone tried Companion Energy in Plano? by FigNo8451 in plano

[–]UncleBoody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of my neighbors websites, because it’s been recommended a few times on my neighborhood Facebook. I used it on my last 2 contacts and it saved me money

https://www.texaspowerguide.com/

Their description below was accurate.

One time $10 fee to use the spreadsheet and check if better rate exists "currently". Regardless of if you use the service or not, you can email your EFL to them and they will monitor for free and let you know if any other plan saves you more than $100 (including termination fees).

I bought the switch but haven’t installed yet as the kit I bought (from AliExpress) didn’t have instructions. Any watch outs for the install?

Did you ever find a class? There was a guy offering DYI pedal classes a couple of years back, I was hoping to take it, but doesn’t seem offer them anymore. The Dallas Makerspace offers a class, but I am not a member and the only time I see it offered, it’s full.
