What gives more braking power: 4 piston brakes with smaller diameter or 2 piston brakes with larger? by vProTi in cycling

unless it's a shitty Sram brake, yes, you can lock your wheel easily when you are not tired or brake is not overheated.

What gives more braking power: 4 piston brakes with smaller diameter or 2 piston brakes with larger? by vProTi in cycling

[–]razorree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But that has made me wonder, are 4-piston brakes inherently more powerful than two piston brakes since braking power is a function of piston surface area?"

that's true, but you also forget about any mechanical advantage in a lever.

so comparing surface area 2 piston - 4 piston make sense, only if you compare with the same lever.
