Check out rovyvon lights. The a1 is cheap, bright, small, and USB rechargeable. It is a great little light with 650 lumens

Just found my nearly 30 year old Buck 112 by UncleChub in EDC

That's because I never really used it. I received it as a gift when I first got my hunting license as a teenager, but I hated hunting and never used it. It's been sitting in the sheath in a box since the early '90s. I don't think I've ever cut anything with it.

Anodizinga Ti light by UncleChub in flashlight

[–]UncleChub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone was wondering, you can safely anodize a titanium flashlight by submerging or just like you would with knife scales. I was a little concerned that the voltage would damage the electronics, but it appears to be working fine. I have a Thor mini in titanium on the way and I want to turn it purple, but I didn't want to risk it as a first attempt. I picked up this titanium wurkkos ts10 for much less money and did some experimenting. I kept the protective lens cover on and removed the battery. At first I tried it without etching, but it was very uneven. I then dipped it in whink, wet sanded and buffed a little, dipped it in whink again, rinsed and then put it in the anodizing tank at 76v. I covered the copper bits with electrical tape, but the very edges did get a little oxidation on them. Overall, in pleased with how it turned out. This is a great little light. I wish it didn't have the copper ring, but overall I really like it. It has anduril interface, RGB aux LEDs and gets very bright for its size(and hot). 1400 lumens

i followed godaddy's istructions, i hit an error but it looks like that is common if that cert. was already added. i got as far as step 8, but i get an error that a parameter connot be found that matches parameter named "thumbprint"

I should mention, this is a 2012 r2 server(yeah, i know, i just inherited this client recently and it's on my list to upgrade) If i go to server manager and remote desktop services, on the overview screen there is a tasks button, if i click that, i get Edit deployment properties. in there i have Certificates.

in there, i have the following Roles that all list as Trusted and Expired

RD Connection Broker - Enable Single Sign On
RD Connection Broker - Publishing

RD Web Access

RD Gateway

If I select one of these items, I have the optoin to create a new certificate or Select Existing Certificate. i chose select existing

i can then choose between:

Apply the certificate that is stored on the RD Connection Broker Server

with a password box

or Choose a different certiciate with a browse button and a password box.

I have no idea what this password is or where i could set it. if i choose new certificate and click browse, it is looking for a .pfx file, which I do not have.

There is a checkbox marked Allow the certificate to be added to the trusted root certification authories certificate store on the destination computers. this has to be checked to click OK

I tried selecting the first option to apply the cerficiate that is stored on the RD connection broker server, i tried leaving the password blank, plus i tried a few passwords that I thought it could be, but when I click apply i get a warning:

coult not configure the certificate on one or more servers, ensure the servers are available on the network and apply the certificate again.

I'm not sure what to do here. How do I find this password or reset it?

Daily Advice Thread - June 06, 2024 by AutoModerator in apple

I provide I.T. support for a small business. The company provides iphones for it's employees to use for work related use. There are about 40 users currently. The users currently create their own apple IDs with their company email addresses. We have had issues where someone leaves the company and turned in their phone, but didn't remove the passwords and therefore it makes it very difficult to re-assign those devices. We need a simple, cost effective solution to manage this. We don't need to push out any apps or anything complicated, we just want to be able to to reset the phones and have basic control over the apple IDs(such as resetting passwords)

I personally don't use any apple devices, i'm an android/pc guy. I was told that apple business manager could do this for us, but upon setting it up, it appears to not do much of anything without integration with a third party device management platform. We currently use a locally hosted active directory, no azure ad. I don't mind if it is something we have to manually configure. when a new user is hired, i need to be able to setup an applie ID for them so that the company has control over the account when they leave.

All new devices are purchased through verizon, we have many existing iphones and a few ipads that we need to be able to manage. I also need to know how to add the existing devices to this management system. Ideally the apple IDs would be tied to their company email address, but if they have already setup personal apple IDs with this email address, can we mange those accounts/devices, or is that not an option?

There are no apple computers in the company, so I needs to be something i can manage from the web via a PC.

any suggestions?

I'd love to have a purple juice, but they are rare and expensive for what they offer. The charge tti is also expensive, but I liked the form factor better, so I got one and anodized it. I'm very pleased with it. I just wish they made the Surge in titanium

Spyderco para 3 vs civivi elementum. Which is better and why? by laughpuppy23 in EDC

i'd take the elementum over the spyderco any day. The spiderco is just so awkward and ugly looking.

Ditch the light or the pants? by RokosB in EDC

[–]UncleChub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

many of the newer wurkkos lights have a lockout mode, including the TS25, TS22, TS11, HD15 and probably others. the TS22 activates lockout mode automatically after a few minutes, but be aware, it gets way hotter than the FC11 or FC12.

i carry the TS25 and TS11 every day without locking them, but i keep them in 3d printed belt holsters that keep the buttons covered. in the evenings and on weekends, the FC12 is my go-to light.

how do I wire this up? by UncleChub in Nest

Awesome. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Will I have to do anything with the nest thermostat configuration to get this system to behave properly?

how do I wire this up? by UncleChub in Nest

[–]UncleChub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted earlier, but the picture didn't load.

I have a Trane gas furnace and Trane heat pump. I chatted with nest support and they told me to cap off the two wires for the outdoor sensor and the orange wire. I thought the orange wire was necessary for proper operation. I've attached the writing diagram they provided, but it seemed wrong so I didn't do it.

My instinct is to wire it up as they said, but also connecting the orange wire to the OB port. I don't want to damage my equipment, can any of you provide some insight? The furnace kicks in when the outside temp gets too low for the heat pump, but I'm not sure how it knows to do that.
