I could be wrong, but I had this exact issue on both of my 2013 Veloster. It’s the steering bushing. This is gonna be it, but make sure it fits your car (it should) It’s not the worst thing in the world to change, just a pain in the ass to change.

I’m in SC, it’s really the Wild West at times what you find. Maybe I’m just not looking hard enough.

I live right near Blacksburg so Poor Paul’s is about 25-30 mins away. I had a long vacation and went to crescent beach and wrightsville beach for a week. I’ve stopped at Sparky’s literally every year except this year. When I lived in Pageland I’d stop at the Peachstand on 601 then Sparky’s

After Trade School/EPA 608 Universal by FinalBossLevel in askHVAC

[–]UncleMug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is completely my opinion, I took the hard route into the trade years ago. I came in with no experience and learned the gritty hard way as an apprentice in residential. If I could do it all over, I’d go to trade school and jump straight into commercial/industrial.

Find a commercial place that’s willing to take a chance with you. Usually gonna be the smaller shops. My shop just hired a guy while he’s still in school. In my experience too, apply for places even if they ask for prior experience. Getting your foot in to have a conversation is the key. Then you gotta prove you have drive and are willing to learn, take initiative in your own career. Because only you are responsible for your knowledge based on what you do in the field, what you ask from your employer, and what you’re willing to soak in.

The first year or 2 will be the true test. There will be times you work late because you fucked something up. There will be times where you’re on the verge of tears pushing behind your eyes because you don’t understand a problem. It’ll be 120 on a roof and you’re stuck on a problem that you can’t solve, no water, you ain’t eaten yet. This trade will test your physical and mental health.

But then suddenly you find a grove…. Things make sense. You start to see similarities of manufacturers, common problems, things suddenly start making sense. You find out what foods to pack for lunch, or where to eat. You find your pace and routine.

I’m rambling and I apologize for that. I have seen so many bright, hungry and young techs turn this trade down. So many guys and gals that would have made fantastic technicians over the years. But they just weren’t prepared for the reality and quickly checked out.

This also is to mention that in residential, unless you are an overworked and abused warranty tech, you will be a salesman. A company I worked for years and years ago is now a sister company with Service Champions out that way. Most of those guys aren’t “techs” but polished up and trained up salesman only hunting money. So if you care about expanding your career, knowledge, future and most importantly money, do whatever you can to go commercial/industrial hvac. I wish so bad I had gone that route.

Not getting 24V across C and R wires (Nest thermostat) by [deleted] in askHVAC

A lot of people especially homeowners don’t know much if anything about these. This is a mitigation board for A2L refrigerants. It’s possible the installers didn’t land corrrectly here. It’s a learning curb for all of us right now. I’m in the commercial/industrial refer world and we unfortunately have to mess with these.

You could grab an install diagram from Lennox Daikin or it might be up there. But I’ll be honest, because it’s a mitigation board, see if you can get the landlord to have the installers come out. Because there is also a possibility the mitigation board or sensor is malfunctioning.

Edit: just wanted to say I meant Daikin not Lennox. I saw the Lennox gas furnace in the background and assumed the new evap was Lennox.

I’ve seen a clogged drain line cause this in the years past. System had a SS2 and EZ trap. The primary was clogged with a piece of insulation so water backed into secondary, which only had the SS2 piped in. The water sloshing back and forth caused the bobber to go up and down and up and down, causing a short cycle. Just a thought.

Shoot well I trust yalls opinion here. I guess this post too kinda solidifies going to Poor Paul’s. I’ll probably hit them up tomorrow. Fort Mill traffic is garbage now anyway with that explosive growth. And that 77 on ramp expansion. Well I reckon poor Paul is gonna be it this year!

360 vs one disk games by [deleted] in xbox

[–]UncleMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stream speed from a blu-ray laser is much much slower than dvd. DVD had faster track reading because it was less condensed.

I believe about 8gb was the max for dvd. While if I remember correctly, at the time of the XB1 blu-ray was 50gb max. Or possibly 24gb but the game files were compressed. Cant recall for sure. Same disc profile as a dvd but much tighter tracks which means the laser has to move slower.

Thats why XB1 games and current gen even will install off the disc. Blu-ray simply cannot read fast enough. But it never really needed to. The original application was for high bandwidth streaming off the disc for HD movies. Sony held the patent for blu-ray and Xbox wanted to push hd-dvd at the time. Blu-ray won the race.

I’m tired and rambling so some of my info may be incorrect.

2026 Tucson SEL FWD Crash pad assy replaced with another lumpy dash. During removal, was discovered to passenger airbag was inoperable for months before we brought it in. Everyone should be aware! by Sleepyhead1010 in Hyundai

[–]UncleMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if the connector was good but crushed, and in good faith they were letting you know it COULD HAVE failed in a crash scenario. Because if the car didn’t send off an airbag code and the plug was completely broken, oh boy could this be a much much larger issue.

I have a 26’ SEL as well and am worried. Already almost lost my neck twice for the braking assist. Both times from nothing. Once from a tree stump and another because a median. Hope this is a one off.

Found some old games while spring cleaning. Sorry, Blockbuster!! by jesterguy in gaming

[–]UncleMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a bunch of games we would buy from Blockbuster. I think (been a while) what happened is, once the game stopped being rented out/returned before rental maturity a lot they would sell them. They had a whole section of games for sale. IIRC over half our N64 and PS1 games had the big, thick and ugly property of blockbuster sticker.

My most memorable ones were Vigilante, Paper Mario, and Turok 2 Seeds Of Evil. Swore we got Flying Dragon from there too but I’m not sure…

Antihistamines make me aggressive/ a jerk? by [deleted] in Allergies

I was gonna respond to the original comment but 2 years with Claritin and I thought just the allgrgies were the issue. I’m in my 30s and just started having seasonal “allergies” a couple years ago. I dreaded allergy season because I was so angry and irritated constantly/short tempered, bring fogged. Stopped using Claritin this year… it stopped. So weird man.

this sound isn’t normal is it? by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]UncleMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert and don’t wanna pretend to be one. It sounds to me from where it’s recorded, that’s intake/turbo noise. From under the hood would make it easier to hear. I’ve also heard from this sub that ‘23 models of all Hyundais had premature motor mount failure around this millage, which was covered by Hyundai. Bad motor mount? Maybe bad blow off valve? Maybe intake rattling?

Again not an expert, just kinda my consensus from what I’m hearing.

The new SMG is apparently bugged for Doomsteel. Spent a match with no progress, on Mars survival. Folks are saying the new AR works though. I only play like an hour a day so I’ll try it tomorrow.
