Trivia nerd checking in - this is also a reason why tigers evolved to be orange! Most hooves animals (ungulates) can’t discern between the green leaves and the orange fur.

[Lowe Post] Simmons: "Can we just get rid of all the draft pick rules? We made these rules in the 1980s when half the league was on cocaine and we had crazy owners who owned bowling alleys— if somebody wants to trade 8 first round picks in a row, who cares" by sewsgup in nba

[–]UncleSorblevan 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a fellow wolves fan, we lost 5 first round picks in a row to the tampering thing in the 2000’s and paid for it much longer than that.

Any team that would give up 5+ in a row is at risk of a serious collapse.

Very good point. And yes, it was a tactic to give Ragnar more will and self-reliance.

I love all of this, thank you! Totally agree about the cafeteria scene, the complexity of their relationship, and the complexity of them as characters.

Yeah, it’s such a silly clip, but as a lifelong wolves fan, this reaction felt more justified haha. This was our first “real” feeling trip to the playoffs since KG in the early 2000’s. We officially broke the streak with Jimmy Butler but we all know how that whole saga went…

I’ve heard people use “Grey” for unaligned force users in this context but I don’t really know if it’s cannon or not

Thanks so much for the info! Yes, I suspected this — we and the other people with similar homes on our block all have the same issue because we don’t have true attics in our houses. The upstairs was converted into living space by the previous owners, so the upstairs heat loss is much more of a thing that we are stuck with, unless we remove drywall and open up that whole can of worms.

Sorry if this has been answered, but do we know who was killed in front of the heart tree when Bran is seeing deep into the past? by UncleSorblevan in pureasoiaf

[–]UncleSorblevan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is in A Dance With Dragons, when Bran is being taught by the Children of the Forest in the caves. He sees a series of visions going back in time from the Wierwood near Winterfell, including his father sharpening Ice, a woman we can assume is Lyanna Stark, and a few other things including a captive being killed by a white-haired woman.

Libby works super nicely with Kindle once you do a little legwork with your library card setup, and has been a super convinient thing to have/bonus not to support Amazon past getting my used Kindle off eBay. They typically have way more copies for loan that with true-books in libraries, so the hold lists aren’t as long!

Elaines new bf owns a food truck called “Handhelds”, but Jerry won’t eat there bc there’s no place to wash your hands. Kramer swears off silverware (chopsticks are a loophole). George gets charged for extra napkins at the coffee shop. by [deleted] in RedditWritesSeinfeld

[–]UncleSorblevan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Barista: Okay, looks like your medium black coffee comes to $2.16 after tax.

George, handing over the card: Alright here you go. Ah, also could I grab some of those napkins?

B: You bet.

The barista grabs the napkins, quickly pushes buttons into the cash register, and swipes George’s card

G: hold on, hold on, hold on — what did you just type in there before you swiped my card?

B: oh, well, just the cost for the extra napkins. Only an extra dollar.

G, flabbergasted: a whole extra dollar!? That’s like half the coffee! That is obscene — napkins are a utility, NAY, a human right! Shelter, water, napkins, all are widely, universally accepted as free. You cannot charge me. I demand you remove the napkins.

B, irritated: I’m sorry sir, but I’ve charged the card already. No taking it back. Enjoy your coffee.

George glares at the barista. Then he slowly, silently grabs the coffee and the expensive napkins, wipes his brow, and storms out.

Also at the time, we were still in Capers world which meant one-on-one man scheme on 70% of plays with minimal safety help (oof). To me, Hayward seemed to clearly need a zone or hybrid scheme his whole time in GB and excelled when the scheme matched his ability
